Reminder! - AGM This Friday night (May 29).

As previously advised, the AGM will be held this Friday night (May 29) from 6.30pm at the clubrooms, so make sure to come along as multiple positions are available.

It would be great to see as many current and new Woodside Cricket Club members there as possible.

Pizza will be provided afterwards, with Carlton v Geelong on the TV.

At recent SACA Community Awards - Woodside Cricket Club won Community Partnership of the Year award and our very own Graham Medlow was presented with 50 years service award.
By being named Community Partnership of the Year, it highlights outstanding local collaboration and recognises partnerships that strengthen our Cricket community.
Well done to all involved - scorers, coaches and those who work quietly in the background keeping everything moving and creating safe welcoming spaces at the heart of our community. 🏏🏆 🏏🏆 (Thanks also to the nominator!)

The Under 14s capped off a great season, winning the premiership after defeating Onkaparinga in a thrilling grand final.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, what followed was something few could have predicted. Opening batters Toby Medlow and Jensen Blundell got the side off to a steady start, reaching 0/68 at drinks on a slow Balhannah Oval.
After the break, the pair lifted the tempo. In the 30th over, Blundell brought up his half-century with a boundary, finishing with 53 from 88 balls, including five fours, before retiring. The opening duo put together an impressive 108-run partnership.
Medlow continued on and also reached a well-made 50, while Kyle Fonseka and Rafferty Klose added valuable runs late in the innings. The side finished on 0/161 — a remarkable effort to bat through 40 overs without losing a wicket, particularly against the undefeated, top-of-the-table Onkaparinga, who had taken the third-most wickets in the competition. Rafferty finished unbeaten on 21, while Kyle contributed 18 not out.
On Friday night, the side took the field full of confidence, knowing a strong performance with the ball and in the field would be required against a powerful Onkaparinga batting line-up.
Opening bowlers Fonseka and Joshua Phillips started well, keeping things tight, with Phillips striking early to have the opposition 1/13. A sharp, low catch from Tobias Young off the bowling of Jensen soon made it 2/23, setting the tone in the field.
Further wickets followed before drinks, with catches to Lucas March-Feltham and Rafferty off the bowling of Felix Rosenberg and Nate Kavanagh.
Onkaparinga was 4/67 at the break, with the game evenly poised.
After drinks, Onkaparinga built momentum through Reef Hugo and Harley Heading, who took the attack on and shifted the pressure back onto the visitors. The equation was reduced to 66 runs required from 78 balls with four wickets in hand.
The game swung again in the 33rd over when Joshua removed Hugo for 47, before striking again in the same over to dismiss Heading (18), with Toby taking the catch, and the saying “catches win matches” proving true as the side held its chances.
With six overs remaining, Onkaparinga required five runs per over, but strong boundary fielding — particularly from Nate — kept the scoring in check.
The seventh wicket fell in the 36th over thanks to a caught-and-bowled dismissal by Rafferty, with the score on 139.
Heading into the final over, Onkaparinga needed 17 runs, with skipper Toby taking the ball.
On the first delivery, a single was taken before the batters attempted a second. A sharp throw from Lucas found the keeper, who removed the bails to complete the run-out and claim the final wicket, sparking jubilant celebrations as the side secured the premiership.
Woodside coach Trent Young said he was proud of the group’s efforts.
“Really super proud of what they have achieved,” Young said.
“For a bunch of kids that prior to this season had never played a game together to win the premiership is an amazing effort.
“Two weeks prior to the start of the season both Woodside and Lobethal didn’t have enough players, so for the merge to happen so quickly is a great achievement.
“I also don’t think enough can be said about what the boys did with the bat.
“To bat for 40 overs against the undefeated top team and not lose a wicket is just extraordinary.”
