Day 2 of the BRU Empowerment Course started with practical coaching sessions involving players from the Junior School. The coaches were fully engaged and excited as they prepared for the upcoming mini festival.
The practical session gave the coaches an opportunity to work directly with the young players, focusing on basic rugby skills such as running, passing and handling the ball. The coaches also followed a structured coaching process, putting into practice the knowledge and skills gained during the course.
A major focus throughout the session was player safety, ensuring that coaches understand how to create a safe and positive learning environment while introducing children to rugby.
The upcoming mini festival will serve as an important learning opportunity and practical assessment for the coaches. It will allow them to demonstrate their understanding of the coaching principles covered during the course, apply safe coaching practices, and assess how effectively they can teach basic rugby skills in a fun and inclusive environment.
The festival will also give the coaches an opportunity to reflect on their coaching, identify areas for improvement and gain confidence in delivering rugby activities within their communities.
