Every year I find it incredibly hard to articulate the disgust, rage, pain, sorrow, and unsettling I feel on Truth and Reconciliation Day.
My heart continues to go out to the Residential School survivors and their families. The abuse and mistreatment of Indigenous and Metis people throughout Canadian history is heartbreaking to imagine, and it is horrifying to realize it was happening to children as young as 4 until 1996, when I was in grade 3. These children lost their childhood, family, identity, community, culture, language, siblings, innocence, and in many cases their life.
I hope every Canadian, each day, spends time to reflect and understand the horrible truths of the past so we can move forward in reconciliation.

Meet Shawna Trail! Our guest teacher this week. I asked Shawna a few questions so we could get to know her a bit better:
What brings you to yoga?
My curiosity in how to live a Healthy , Happy, well Balanced life.
When did your yoga journey begin?
I started practising yoga in the early 80’s in Winnipeg. I received a Hatha yoga teaching training certification in 2019.
Do you have a favourite theme or sequence to practise?
My favorite sequences to practise are one's that work with the spine and the heart.
Poses that involve twists, to increase the flow of energy and massage your internal body and core.
Heart openers to help remove any blockages in the body and promote over all well being.
My favourite themes are to;
Embrace life as it is,
Have Compassion for yourself and others,
Celebrate the small wins , the small wins eventually add up.
Any thing else we can expect for the classes this week?
I intend to hold a safe space for everyone feel present, and to enjoy their unique yoga practise.
To take with them the benefits of their practise and appreciate their accomplishments.
Thank you for sharing space with us this week Shawna!!
