I love when a stick can bring together generations in a family! This stick was brought to me by Alex Comeau. I believe it is an unmarked Logan from the 50’s. It is a beautifully balanced and carved stick. It belonged to Alex’s grand father and passed along to Alex’s dad who some may recognize the name Eddie Comeau. The colours chosen represent Hamilton and the Bay Area Bengals (Now named Burlington Blaze). Eddie and I both played for Bay Area Jr. A, and now I have the privilege to play masters lacrosse with his son.

Recently I restored two wooden long poles for Rich Kimball. I was saddened to hear of his passing a few days ago. Rich was a player, and a coach. He gave so much to the game. Playing at Bowdoin Collage, and coaching high school lacrosse in Michigan for many years. A good friend Bert Smith drove Rich up to meet myself and a few others. When I met Rich he and Bert asked if I would restore the sticks he had kept from his early playing days. I said I’d be honored to do it. At the time, Rich was suffering from the onset of early dementia. When he talked about Lacrosse, it was like his memory was intact and nothing else mattered. Pictured below is Rich when he was reunited with his restored sticks. He couldn’t believe it and was at a loss for words. I was very grateful to have given back to him memories from his past that inspired him..

Not every request is to restore, restring or repair. Fellow lacrosse brother Bobby Debrone entrusted me with his full bend Mitchell brothers stick. Bobby asked if I would cut it down and taper the shaft for him. Well, when you get a little piece of the Creator’s game left over you find a way to keep the spirit in the off cut alive. So I handcrafted a feather smudging fan for Bobby. Now he can learn to pass on good energy to the players he coaches, and create memories now and in the future! Keep the passion alive Bobby!!!🥍

Happy Wood stick Wednesday 🥍
This 1980s pro select 80 came to me from Matt Miller. He bought the stick and it came broken! Little G flex and restring. Now this stick can pass along some more good medicine 🥍🥍🥍

There is no greater honor than when I can bring back a stick from one of the greatest stick makers of all time. This is a “Martin Special” made by Herb Martin from Oshweken, Ontario. Herb’s sticks were considered one of the best in the 50’ and 60’s . His sticks were used by the top players. Herb supplied sticks all the way to the west coast. Herb’s craftsmanship inspired another one of the greatest stick makers of all time Matthew Etienne. Herb’s sticks lead to Matthew adding the Martin name to his premier stick the “Etienne-Martin” I am going to add a second post to follow with a bit more of the process with this amazing stick!

I love when I can get a stick done for a friend that is truly passionate about the game. This Patterson is a great example of what Wes Patterson gave to the game of Lacrosse. It was truly a pleasure to get it done for Danny Tavares. Yes many know the name. Danny gives to the sport, and I was so happy to see him back on the floor with us in the TRAC Masters league the winter!
