This hunting build is one you’re going to want to get to know.
Built for hard-hitting dependability in Northern Alberta’s thick timber, this setup is pure medicine for black bear and moose.
Chambered in .35 Whelen (pushing a 200gr Barnes TTSX at 2,800 fps), every component was selected for backwoods reliability. At the center of the system is the Apex Optics Edge 1-10x24 LPVO. Its daylight-bright red center dot and outer segmented ring lock on fast, providing sharp contrast against dark bear fur or moose hide in low early-morning light.
Mounted in our Apex Onyx 34mm High Rings, the Edge’s true 1x magnification enables lightning-fast sight alignment - critical for close-quarters wildlife defense. Paired with Summit 10x42 binos on the harness, it’s a bulletproof setup for dense bush.

We didn’t set out to make another LPVO. We set out to rethink the prism.
When we began developing the Apex V***r 1-4×22, the goal was simple: take everything you love about a prism optic - speed, clarity, an always-visible etched reticle - and give it the versatility of variable magnification.
The result is something that doesn’t quite fit into the traditional categories.
At 1×, V***r is built for speed and rapid target acquisition. Dial it up to 4×, and you gain the magnification needed to identify and engage targets with greater precision. All while keeping the optic compact, lightweight and purpose-built.
But the innovation didn’t stop with the glass.
We designed V***r with modularity in mind, including an RMR-pattern mounting footprint and the ability to configure a red dot directly on top or at a 45° offset. Add the FIRE™ etched reticle, ED Japanese glass, Smart-Light™ technology and a rugged 7075 aluminum body, and you have an optic designed around how modern competitors actually use their set ups.
Different by design.
Built with purpose.

Why bring binoculars on the boat?
• Spot wildlife along the shoreline
• Identify birds from a distance
• Scout coves, islands, and shorelines
• Find landmarks and navigation points
• Get a closer look at boats and activity on the water
• Scan the horizon for what’s ahead
• Take in the scenery without leaving the boat
The Apex Summit ED binoculars make it easy to see more of the adventure - wherever the water takes you.

HUNTING AROUND THE WORLD
We’re building a new Apex Optics series featuring hunters, landscapes and hunting setups from around the world - and we want to hear from you.
Every hunting environment is different. The terrain, distances, lighting and style of hunting all influence the optics you choose.
Tell us about your hunt:
- Where do you hunt? Country/region + terrain
- What’s your hunting style? Open field, stand, blind, truck, spot & stalk, etc.
- What magnification do you prefer? Binoculars and/or riflescope
- Why does that magnification work for you?
- What species do you hunt?
- What optics are you currently using?
- If you could build your ideal optic for your hunting environment, what would it be?
And:
Do you currently use Apex Optics? If so, tell us which product and how you use it in the field.
We’ll be featuring hunters from different countries and environments and looking at which Apex optics make the most sense for each style of hunting.
Send us your story, setup and photos by DM, or to [email protected]
Let’s see how hunters around the world glass the field.
