Statement from Camp Tamarack

Camp Tamarack is aware of concerns that have recently been shared publicly regarding our camp.

We take concerns involving the safety and wellbeing of campers seriously. The Camp Tamarack Board of Directors is overseeing a review of the specific matters that have been raised, including relevant records, policies and procedures. If the review identifies matters requiring further action, we will take the appropriate steps.

Some of the matters being discussed involve individual campers, families, current and former employees. We have a responsibility to protect their privacy and confidentiality, which means some individual circumstances cannot appropriately be discussed publicly. This does not prevent us from reviewing concerns or taking action where warranted.

We want to hear directly from anyone with first-hand information or a concern about an experience at Camp Tamarack. Please contact Dennis at [email protected] so that the information can be documented and appropriately followed up.

Our responsibility is to provide a safe and respectful environment for the children and families we serve. We remain committed to that responsibility, including when concerns are raised about us.

🌟 Meet Shortcake! 🌟

Serving up good food, teamwork, and a whole lot of care at Camp Tamarack! 🍽️💛

After first joining Camp Tamarack in 2019 and taking last summer off, we are excited she is back this year as our Kitchen Manager!

Her work motto says a lot about how she approaches camp: “There is no ‘I’ in team.” For her, the kitchen is about more than preparing meals. She loves caring for others, sharing a warm meal, and making sure the people around her feel valued.

Outside of camp, life is BUSY! With her family at various sports facilities six days a week, her most-used phrase might just be, “Sorry I can’t, my kids have sports.” 😄

And when she isn't at camp or cheering from the sidelines, she spends time in downtown Grande Prairie connecting with and supporting members of our community whom she has come to call friends.

For more than 20 years, CNRL has been an incredible supporter of Camp Tamarack, helping make unforgettable camp experiences possible for so many children and families.

The greatest part of camp isn't found in the activities. It's found in the people.

Long after the songs fade, the games end, and the cabins empty, campers often remember one thing most: the people who made them feel like they belonged.

Camp leaders may never fully realize the impact of a kind word, a high five, a conversation at bedtime, or simply taking the time to notice a camper who needed someone.

A simple handmade card like this is a beautiful reminder that the relationships built at camp matter. They build confidence, create belonging, and leave memories that can last for years.

To every Camp Tamarack leader who gives their time, energy, patience, and heart—thank you. You may never know just how much of a difference you make, but our campers certainly do. 💚

🌟 Meet Rooster! 🌟

Bringing rugged outdoor skills and campfire adventures to Camp Tamarack! 🔥🌲

Rooster is back for his second season as one of our Program Leaders, and we’re excited to welcome him back! Hailing from Edmonton, he loves all things outdoors, and his favourite colours are black and red.

Whether he's building something, making a campfire, or exploring the wilderness, Rooster is happiest outside. He's currently studying to become a foundation drill rig operator, where he's continuing to build practical, hands-on skills.

This summer, Rooster is looking forward to sharing his love of the outdoors through wilderness activities, ACE games, and plenty of camp adventures with campers. We’re thrilled to have him back for another amazing season!

Just sending a shout out to the NuVista Energy Centre in Beaverlodge! Thank you for accommodating our Summer Camps Swim Days each year💦🏊🏽‍♀️

This week mother nature changed some of our camp plans due to air quality and while we had to improvise some of our fun -- the one thing that remained the same on our schedule this week - was swimming!

What a fun time it was 🥰

We've said it before, let us say it again! We are more than just a Summer Camp!

Coming up this year, a back to school day camp from August 31st to September 2nd. Don't worry, the fun does not end there -- we are back again this year with PD Day Camps as well!
