Website Contact the business

NMBC - Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club NMBC is a 100% volunteer-run, non-profit trail advocacy group in Nanaimo, BC. We also host special events such as mountain bike races and camping/riding trips.

We build, ride & maintain sustainable, non-motorized mountain bike trails and host group rides, events and volunteer trail-build days. The Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club supports and advocates for access to the forest lands around Nanaimo and builds and maintains authorized singletrack trails in the Nanaimo area. Besides our trail advocacy work, we organize group rides at least five times a week, rain or shine, all year long (night rides with lights in the winter). The Nanaimo Mountain Bike club is affiliated with the International Mountain Bicycling Association of Canada. Membership dues are $40 per year, which goes towards our trail maintenance and mountain bike advocacy efforts, as well as trail management liability insurance. Posting Guidelines:
1. No posts about unauthorized trail building activities.
2. No bicycle-related advertisements. You may post a single LINK to an ad on a classified site such as Pinkbike or Used Nanaimo.
3. No negative or slanderous posts about specific individuals or groups. Posts not adhering to these guidelines may be removed without warning!

Trail Tuesday: Double Crown 👑

Nanaimo’s newest authorized trail, and it doesn’t ease you in.

You start with a log ride straight into a rock roll. That’s your entry exam. If you can’t ride those clean, you might not be ready for the rest yet. No shame in that. There’s a skinny at the start of Brothers 5 that’s perfect for practice. Work on your skills, come back, and earn it.

Make it past the start and you get flowy berms and jumps all the way down.

This trail was built for progression. You grow into it one lap at a time.

First run? Don’t full send. Roll through, check every take-off and landing, then build up.

Climb Brothers 5 and lap it till your legs say no.

Double black means double black. Preride, reride, freeride.

Thanks to City of Nanaimo Local Government, builders, and every dig day volunteer who helped make this one official.

Love it? Help keep it that way. Join a dig day or become a member. Link in bio.

Someone has added a loose plank to the entry of the skinny on Double Crown. We get it. It’s a tough feature. But it’s tough on purpose.

Double Crown is an authorized trail, and every feature on it was designed and built to a specific standard. The skinny is meant to be hard. Changing it, even with good intentions, changes the trail that was approved. It can also make the feature less safe. A plank that isn’t fastened down can shift or slide under your wheel, especially when it’s wet.

We believe in progression. That’s why, after we built and launched Double Crown, we also built a practice skinny at the bottom of Brothers 5. It’s the place to build your skills and confidence before you take on the real thing. Session it, and come back to Double Crown when you’re ready.

If a feature on Double Crown isn’t for you yet, ride around it or walk it. There’s no shame in that. Everyone starts somewhere.

If you think a feature needs work, tell us. Please don’t change it yourself.

Another great Fiver race at Doumont, with a little rain creating some of the best trail conditions we’ve seen. The grip was unreal, making for a fast and fun evening of racing.

The chainless category was back at it again, claiming 2nd and 3rd overall. First place still had their chain attached… we’ll let it slide this time. 😉🥾

A big thank you to everyone who came out to race, volunteer, and cheer on the riders. Your support continues to make these events possible.

We’ll see you at the next Fiver!
