Welcome to our Summer Day Camp Series! Join us as we celebrate the power of recreation and the important role summer day camps play in helping children grow, connect, and thrive through play. 🏕️

To many people, they're a place for children to spend the day while school is out. But anyone who's been part of a camp knows they're so much more than that.

Camp is where children discover new interests, make new friends, build confidence, solve problems, and learn through play. It's where trying something new becomes exciting, and where everyday moments can turn into lifelong memories.

Behind those experiences are recreation leaders who create welcoming spaces where every child feels encouraged to participate, belong, and be themselves.

Summer day camp isn't just about keeping children busy - it's about helping them grow in ways that last long after summer ends. ☀️💚

🚨 Help Shape the Future of Recreation Leadership in Newfoundland and Labrador!

Recreation NL is partnering with Anchored Beginning – Early Years Consulting to develop a Frontline Recreation Leadership Training that will strengthen recreation programs and better support frontline leaders across the province.

With more than 25 years of experience in children and youth programming, Annette Drake of Anchored Beginning is helping create a training framework that will:

✔ Establish a provincial standard for frontline recreation leader training
✔ Promote inclusive, play-based, and trauma-informed practices
✔ Equip recreation leaders with practical tools to create safe, engaging, and equitable recreation experiences
✔ Align with national recreation principles, including the Framework for Recreation in Canada

We need your input!

To ensure this training reflects the needs of communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, we're inviting feedback from recreation and sport professionals, recreation leaders, municipalities, Indigenous governments, organizations, and community partners.

Your experience and perspective will help shape a training framework that strengthens recreation leadership and creates even better opportunities for children and communities across our province.

📋 Complete the survey by July 10: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FrontlineTraining2026

Together, we can build stronger recreation leaders and stronger communities.
