OMG. The Inner Child Retreat is only ONE MONTH AWAY!
I have hardly posted about it because it has been quietly filling up all on its own, which feels like the greatest testament to just how special and ridiculously fun this weekend is.
But for those who still have not heard much about it, here are a few clips from last year.
So. Much. Laughter.
I am lucky. I get to play all day, every day, at kids camp. Old Maid got completely out of control at Belcarra Park today. But most adults spend far more time adulting than playing and so I created these retreats to share that joy with you 🫶
Our Inner Child Retreat is an opportunity to step away from all of that adulting. To reset, recharge and reconnect through play, rest and meaningful connection.
Play is not just for children. It reduces stress, encourages creativity, strengthens relationships and helps us feel more present and alive. It gives our nervous systems a break from constantly managing, producing and holding everything together.
This retreat is for everybody.
You do not need to be good at yoga. You do not need to be outgoing. You do not need to arrive with friends. You do not need to be healed, spiritual or comfortable being silly.
You just need to come as you are.
Throughout the weekend, we create opportunities for you to feel seen, heard, welcomed and genuinely included. You can join in fully, take quiet time when you need it, laugh until your stomach hurts, make meaningful connections and remember parts of yourself that may have been buried underneath years of responsibility.
The weekend includes yoga with Dawn, breathwork with Beam and Chelsey, sound healing with Surya, nourishing plant based meals (yes, Bear is back this year in the kitchen!) a dream catcher workshop with Choni, time in nature, creative activities, games, connection and plenty of space to simply be.
September 17 to 20 in beautiful Roberts Creek.
The retreat is already filling, so if you have been thinking about joining us, now is the time.
Come play with us.

Thank you to Barks, Brews & Beyond for collaborating on today's event, and for everyone who came out today to cuddle rescue puppies, support adoption and raise money for Snow Dog Society
We are especially excited for the Dogs who found new homes in our community!
But despite the successful event, this may be our final rescue puppy event.
Port Moody Bylaw attended our studio today during our rescue puppy meet and greet to talk to me about puppy yoga.
I was told I could potentially be fined because our business licence is for yoga and counselling.
Except here is the bizarre part:
They were not actually sure we had violated a bylaw.
The event was not shut down. No safety concern was raised. There was no issue with the puppies or the rescue.
Instead, I was told they would look into it and if they can find a bylaw we violated, the fine will be in the mail. They told me that my business license is for yoga, but not include puppy yoga.
Yes. Port Moody bylaw visited my business today to inform me to expect a fine for offering puppy yoga under my yoga business license. Yes. That happened today.
Port Moody bylaw enforcement is complaint based, which means someone was concerned enough about our rescue puppy fundraisers to make a complaint in the first place.
Yes. Someone complained to bylaw about our puppy yoga classes.
RVN makes $0 from these events. We donate the studio, our instructors volunteer and 100% of the proceeds go directly to rescue.
We are not a kennel.
We are not a dog daycare.
We are not boarding animals.
We are not selling puppies.
We are a yoga studio that occasionally does yoga with rescue puppies to raise much needed funds for the rescues.
I have asked the City to identify exactly what bylaw we supposedly violated.
Because if you are going to fine someone for breaking a bylaw, shouldn't you know which bylaw they broke first?
And yes, all puppies were vaccinated.
So… was today our last rescue puppy yoga event?
I hope not. Let the City of Port Moody know how you feel about City bylaw resources being spent to try to shut down puppy yoga.

Car Free Day is all about celebrating the people and local organizations that make our community so special, and we are so excited to open up the RVN studio for something very close to our hearts.
This Sunday, join us for an adoption event and donation drive supporting Snow Dog Society alongside our friends at Barks, Brews, and Beyond.
Stop by between 12 and 3pm, bring a cash donation or items from Snow Dogs wish list, cuddle some ridiculously adorable adoptable puppies, and maybe even meet your new best friend.
There is no set admission fee. We are simply asking our community to show up, bring what they can, and help support a local rescue doing incredible work.
Local rescue. Local volunteers. Local love. Port Moody strong.
Come for Car Free Day. Stay for the puppies.

I have the wildest job in the world.
For 6.5 hours a day, I chase kids around the Lower Mainland on buses, SkyTrains, through forests, museums, libraries, beaches, gardens and places we sometimes did not even know we were going to when the day started.
And I absolutely love it.
Our Adventure Camps are not really about the destinations. The destinations are pretty awesome, but they are almost beside the point.
They are about the kid who was terrified to order their own ice cream and eventually does it.
The kid who starts the week on the outside of the group and ends it feeling like they belong.
The kids who argue, get frustrated, miss a bus, get rained on, have to compromise, change the plan, figure something out together and discover that they can handle far more than they thought they could.
They are about reading peacefully in a library and having to decide whether we even want to leave.
They are about sitting at a bus stop playing a game because we have 15 minutes to kill.
They are about adults and teenagers genuinely wanting to hang out with kids, talk to them, play with them and know them.
There are hard moments. Sometimes there are really hard days. But that is part of it too. We are not trying to remove every uncomfortable experience from childhood. We are creating a safe place for kids to move through those experiences and discover what they are capable of.
I am so ridiculously proud of what our Resilient Kids programs have become.
We have ONE spot left in next week’s Young Leaders Adventure Camp, and our fall Resilient Kids programs are now open for registration.
If your kid needs more confidence, independence, connection, adventure, play, or simply a place where they can completely be themselves, I would love to have them with us.

I just love how this community continues to show up for each other.
Thank you to every single person who came out today to get Downward for the Dogs and helped us raise over $1,000 for Pawsitive Animal Rescue!
A huge thank you to Barks, Brews and Beyond for organizing the event, Emily from Rays of Sound for creating the most magical gong bath, and of course Pawsitive Animal Rescue for bringing us the sweetest little crew of puppies.
We honestly weren’t sure how a puppy gong bath was going to go, and it ended up being even better than we imagined. The puppies curled up, fell asleep and cuddled with humans through almost the entire sound journey. During the rain drum, they suddenly came alive and followed Emily around the room, completely fascinated. Then, as we closed the practice with OM, they started popping their little heads up one by one. It was ridiculously sweet.
These rescue puppy events have become such an important part of RVN and our commitment to Seva, or service to others. Puppy yoga has become incredibly popular, and we believe there is a way to do it that actually gives back. By partnering with local rescue organizations, these events raise funds for animals in need, introduce adoptable puppies to potential families and create some pretty beautiful moments along the way.
We will always choose rescue over using puppies as a product for profit.
And because apparently one weekend of puppies is not enough around here...
MORE PUPPIES NEXT WEEKEND!
For Car Free Day, Snow Dog Society will be joining us at RVN with adoptable puppies. We’ll also be collecting donations for the rescue, so head over to their Instagram and check out their current list of needs. Start gathering up those old towels and blankets now!
When you stop by RVN next Sunday for our Car Free Day events and some pretty epic studio deals, bring a donation, cuddle a puppy and maybe even meet your new best friend.
And yes, you can absolutely drop off donations for Snow Dog Society at the studio anytime before Sunday too.

Final day to vote in the A List awards!
Please take a few minutes to vote for RVN in categories #522, 528, 552, 558, 567, 570, and 573 before August 6.
We are incredibly proud to have been voted Port Moody’s top yoga studio several times, but RVN has always been so much more than yoga. We run inclusive children’s programs, support local rescues, create opportunities for connection and belonging, and continually look for meaningful ways to give back to the community that has supported us.
Category 558 is especially meaningful to us, and we would absolutely love your vote.
Voting closes August 6. Thank you for continuing to show up for this little studio and everything we are trying to build here.
