Yesterday was a day I’ll never forget.

Tyler and I have been talking about making this trip for years, and yesterday we finally made it happen. Two hours to Lake St. Clair, launching around 12:30, chasing MUSKY — the fish of 10,000 casts.

Hours of casting HUGE baits. Sore arms. A wrecked lower back. Even snapped off a $75 lure 😂. But we kept grinding.

Around 5:45, I finally got my first musky follow on a 1.5 lb Bulldog. I made what was probably the worst figure-8 in history 😂, but that fish disappearing was all the motivation I needed.

As the sun started going down, Ty began packing up. While putting the net away he said:

“You’re gonna get one, and I’m gonna have to pull this net back out.”

Less than 10 minutes later…

WHACK.

Big head shakes, adrenaline pumping and suddenly my back didn’t hurt anymore. 😂

The fish came up beside the boat and I yelled:

“THAT’S IT — THAT’S MY BIGGEST FISH EVER!”

Ty coached me through the fight and we got her in the boat.

JUST OVER 50 INCHES.

A beautiful blonde musky and the fish of a lifetime.

We grabbed a few quick pics and I held her at the back of the boat until she was ready, then she kicked and we watched her swim away.

Huge thanks to Ty for the knowledge, coaching and patience. This fish doesn’t happen without you, buddy. And then he pulled the Bulldog out, handed it to me and said “keep it.”

What a day. What a fish. What a memory.

10,000 casts was worth it.

🔥 ONE EPIC FULL-DAY CHARTER! 🎣

This was easily one of my best charters of the entire season! I had Norm, Stan and his brother Pat all the way from Fort Mac, Alberta, and these guys wasted absolutely NO time getting into the fish! 😎

The first king hit the high spoon rigger BEFORE we even had the second line set up! 😂 From there, it was game on and an incredible day on the lake.

We ended with 30+ bites and 24 fish in the boat! 🤯

🐟 3 Atlantic Salmon
🐟 1 Rainbow
🐟 20 Kings

And we got to put a beautiful super-dark 14 lb king in the boat so Norm gets bragging rights because that was a cool fish. 😎

This is exactly why I love my full-day charters. More time on the water, more opportunities to put fish in the boat, and of course… only the best for my crew! 😉

When lunchtime rolls around, I put out a full spread with a nice selection of Italian meats, fresh buns and some tortilla chips to munch on. 😋 Nothing better than taking a break from the rods, enjoying some good food and talking about the fish we've already caught!

🎣 Lake Ontario adventures continue! 🎣

It was a pleasure hosting Joanne and her family as they celebrated her husband’s birthday out on the water this morning. 🎂🎉

The fish were definitely chomping as we were busy finishing up with an awesome mix of:
🐟 9 Rainbow Trout
🐟 1 Hybrid coho/king
🐟 4 Kings

Plenty of action for this fishy family and a great way to celebrate a birthday! Nothing better than making memories with family while chasing some Lake Ontario fish. 🍻🎣

We had a great time this morning with Scott and his son Ryan, all the way up from Nashville, Tennessee! 🇺🇸🇨🇦

Ryan loves to fish for bass so he was excited to try something new and wow did he slam them out there! We put a bunch of kings, coho, and rainbow trout in the boat.

Nothing beats a family fishing day! 🎣❤️

Had my dad, brother-in-law and nephew Jayden out on the boat this afternoon, and we had an absolute blast! There’s just something special about being out on the water with family, sharing some laughs, making memories and, of course, putting a few fish in the boat. 3 generations on the water fishing together which is super cool.

We ended up landing a great mix of Kings, Coho and Rainbows, with the biggest weighing in at 19.29 lbs! 💪🐟

But the highlight of the day had to be watching Jayden put the hammer down on his PB King! Crushed a fly on the wire dipsy and peeled out 450! 🎣🔥 Couldn’t be happier for him!

Days like this are what it’s all about. Great people, great fishing and family memories that will last a lifetime.

Fun morning out on the water with Rex and his crew visiting from Beijing! 🎣🇨🇳

We got a couple of really darkies today 😬 — these fish are definitely ready to head for the rivers and make some babies! 😂 Still great to see some fish around, as we managed a few kings and a nice coho for the cooler.

Taking tomorrow off and then we’ll be back at it next week! 🎣💪

🎣 WHAT A DAY ON LAKE ONTARIO! 🎣

After my morning charter, Mona came down with her friend Azad, and the kids for a couple hours — and we managed to put a few nice Kings in the boat! 🐟🔥
Then I headed back out solo… and WOW, did things get crazy! 🤯

The bite was absolutely NUTS. I landed 9 matures with a mix of beautiful chrome fish and some really dark, mature Kings that are clearly getting ready to make their run up the rivers. Every single fish came on The Big One Cut Bait Co. meat except the last one which was a rainbow while I was flat lining a plug! 🤣

The biggest of the day was just shy of 20 lbs — an absolute tank with a belly full of eggs. She swam away to make some more for next year.

This is what September on Lake Ontario is all about. The season is winding down, but there is still some great fishing out here!

Back to Lake Ontario (not Lake America) and another awesome morning on the water with a great crew!

Had the pleasure of hosting Melanie, her daughter Mia, her son, and his buddies from the Toronto Marlies this morning! 🏒

These guys brought the energy and we definitely found the fish! We put a bunch in the boat, had plenty of laughs, and finished up with a few nice fish heading home for the BBQ. 🎣🐟

Great people, great fishing, and a beautiful morning on the lake — doesn’t get much better than that! 👊

Nice to switch things up, as Salmon winds down Lake Erie walleye fires right up! Met my buddies Ron, Tal and Matt down at Port Glasgow today with the Grady and we loaded the boat with a full mess of nice chunky walleye for our freezers. It's always amazing to see how strong the fishery is for walleye, as the launch was lined up this morning with anglers from all over. It's my favourite thing to do when salmon dies down, as its non-stop action and a beautiful spot to fish. The boys had a blast and I can't wait for dinner! Walleye tacos coming right up!
