The first few classes with a busy baby, toddler or kinder can feel likeā¦a lotšµāš«ā£
ā£
New gym. New people. New sounds. New expectations. Waiting for turns. Following a circuit. And somehow convincing a tiny human that, yes, we actually are supposed to go this wayšā£
ā£
If your first class felt overwhelming, overstimulating or just plain HARDā¦please donāt give up yet!ā£
ā£
We tell families to give it at least 3 classes before deciding how they feel about the program. For many littles, those first few weeks are simply about learning the routine and understanding the structure. They may wander. They may refuse a station. They may want to do the same thing 47 times. They may have absolutely zero interest in what the coach is asking. Thatās okay.ā£
ā£
And parents please donāt stressš¤ We promise, you are not being judged because your toddler is running in the opposite direction while everyone else is sitting at the station! You donāt need to spend the entire class apologizing, feeling embarrassed or worrying that your child is the only one not āgetting it.ā Theyāre learning how to be in a class, too. Your job is to support them, redirect when you can and keep showing up. Weāll handle the rest togetherš¤ā£
ā£
With consistency, the gym starts to become familiar. They learn what comes next, expectations begin to make sense, confidence grows and suddenly you start seeing those little winsš„¹ā£
ā£
At this age, gymnastics is about SO much more than learning gymnastics skills. Theyāre practicing listening, taking turns, trying something new, communicating, building confidence, moving their bodies and learning how to participate in a structured environment.ā£
ā£
So if class #1 or #2 felt like absolute chaosā¦keep coming. Class #3 might surprise youš¤š»ā£
ā£
It really does get easierš¤
