Recap of today at world championships in Phoenix Arizona. First, for whatever reason, my roommate Mr. Pollard and I hardly slept last night. A little bit of nerves and the AC wasn't up high enough I guess...

Anyway, up at 5:40am. Get ready and wait for the breakfast to open at 6:30. Eat a small bite and head back to the room at 6:35 to change and walk to the convention center for testing check in at 7:am. Testing started at 7:30 sharp. Form, weapons and sparring all in front of the panel of about 14 grandmasters. I felt pretty good with my performance.

Then, after testing bows out, I had about 40 minutes to get ready for my TOC competition. I didn't place in the form, but missed the podium by one or two points. Placed third in traditional weapons.

Then I had to wait for combat and point sparring competition which took about 90 minutes. Immediately after it was time for creative and extreme competition of which I qualified for all 4 events.

I was blessed to compete with some really great Masters the whole morning. My biggest worry was getting injured but God protected me. And I was fortunate to win all 4 world champion titles.

Thanks to all of my students who inspire me every day to push myself to prepare and compete. Thanks to my family for all of their support and encouragement!

Well, we have another world champion from our Surrey Black Belt Academy! Congratulations to Mr. Phil Pollard on winning World Champion in forms! He also placed 2nd in traditional weapons.

Mr. Millard also placed 3rd in forms at the TOC. Mrs. Millard competed for the first time at the TOC and just missed the podium by a point.

Congratulations to all our students who competed. Day two to come and maybe some more medals.
