We recognize that "coming out" looks different for everyone and is rarely a one-day event. Lots of 2SLGBTQIA+ folks may lead happy and fulfilled lives without coming out or only coming out to their nearest & dearest. However you choose to come out, or whether you do at all, we hope you feel safe and empowered.

Today we take a moment to reflect on Sisters in Spirit National Day of Action

The Sisters in Spirit initiative, led by the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC), honours the lives of those taken and provides grieving families and communities space for healing and strength.⁠

Across the country, vigils will be held to honour the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people. We encourage you to find a vigil in your area to stand in solidarity with those honouring their loved ones.

Canada has reached important milestones in advancing 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion but progress hasn’t been experienced equally across our communities.

As q***r and trans rights continue to face growing attacks across the country, it’s more important than ever to look to our history, understand the struggles and intersectional movements that shaped it, and learn from the work of those who came before us.

National Seniors Day is a time to celebrate older adults, honour the wisdom and experiences they bring to our communities, and stand together against ageism.

It’s also an opportunity to work toward a future where 2SLGBTQIA+ older adults can age with dignity, connection, safety, and access to inclusive digital spaces.

We believe rainbow seniors also have the right to connect and that it's never too late to create new families.

1000s of children were torn from their families and many never came home. Today we honour them and their communities.

Today we are also reflecting on what we can do to work toward reconciliation and de-colonization across Turtle Island. We know this work cannot be done with just one day of reflection every year. If you’re looking for ways to continue learning and engaging with Indigenous perspectives after NDRT, you can swipe for some resources recommended by the ODLAN team.

These resources are ones that particularly resonated with the ODLAN team. We are, however, a group of settlers on this land, and we encourage you to go directly to your local Indigenous communities and look to them for guidance on how you can take meaningful action toward reconciliation and decolonization.

Today, we celebrate and stand in solidarity with bisexual communities while raising awareness of the unique barriers and biphobia that bisexual folks continue to face.

Bisexuality is not “q***r-lite.” Your identity is valid, your experiences are real, and no one else gets to decide what your identity means to you.

We were proud to attend last week’s announcement of the Menstrual Equity Fund and celebrate the distribution of more than 124 million free menstrual products to communities across the country!

Menstrual equity is an important part of creating more inclusive and accessible communities. We know that access to essential resources can be shaped by intersecting barriers, and that these barriers can affect 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in unique ways.

Thank you to Minister Valdez and Women and Gender Equality Canada for this important work supporting people of all genders access the resources they need!
