Thank you Magela Grass for sharing this beautiful moment and caption ❤️
Hey mommas,
I want to share that childbirth can also be peaceful and empowering!
Since I myself have experienced a lot of negative projections on childbirth and I feel like positive stories are not heard enough.
When I got pregnant I was so overwhelmed with all the stress and anxiety that I came across in social media, and it somehow made me think that birth was a traumatic experience.
I had to reprogram and stop listening to everyone’s opinions on how dangerous and scary a water birth was and started researching how to be in full control of my body during labor.
My water birth was a premeditated decision that took a lot of inner work and preparation beforehand, I want to share with you all books and exercices I did to prepare for successful unmedicated birth.
Books:
- Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth
- Sacred Birthing by Sunni Karll
- Hypnobirth in YouTube or Spotify
- Pelvic Floor exercises for childbirth
- Prenatal yoga
- lots of rest and stretching
But most importantly, I have to thank my partner for being such a wonderful support, he continuously gave me physio therapy and
supported me during all stages of my pregnancy. Thank you my love for being so caring and loving during the whole pregnancy specially during labor you were my #1 cheerleader, I love making life with you and raising our little girl together.
We need more doulas!! Comment BOOK to get your free 32 page guide to support your research in becoming a doula.
Reproductive violence has a name… and it belongs in your vocabulary.
A 2024 UN Women / Global Justice Center paper defines it as acts or omissions that harm someone by interfering with their reproductive autonomy.
It includes forced pregnancy, enforced sterilization, forced abortion and contraception, denial of abortion care, blocked access to reproductive healthcare, and the destruction of maternity infrastructure.
The finding: this harm is chronically under-documented in international investigations. Not because it isn’t happening, but because investigators lacked the mandate, training, or language to record it.
What doesn’t get documented doesn’t get counted, funded, or repaired.
The barriers they named will sound familiar to birth workers. Stigma around reproductive autonomy. Euphemistic language. Self-censorship.
Why it matters for us: we already support folks in the moments where reproductive autonomy is honoured or taken.
We already witness what never makes it into a chart. (It’s like screaming into the ether, y’all!!)
Precise language is protective.
“Denial of abortion care” is a legal category, not a euphemism.
Naming things accurately is part of the work.

What a morning! While recording an episode for Hot+Brave the Podcast by bebo mia inc. this morning Bianca Sprague saw this man who had been on the loose for the last 4 days at the bottom of her driveway.
He looked around before ducking into the trees and down her neighbours driveway which is hidden from the road. She ran down and locked her doors and called 911… within minutes the police and community supports were searching the lots across the street. He was arrested within the hour and CTV came to interview for the tip that captured a serial ra**st.
Pretty on brand for Bianca don’t ya think?

Comment BIRTH if you want to explore birth doula work.
Being a doula isn't about having every answer.
It's about helping families feel informed enough to make their own decisions based on what feels right for them.
That means listening without judgment.
Sharing evidence-based information.
Supporting decisions without making them for someone else.
Doulas might be the only person in that families life that doesn't have an opinion or judgement about their choices... this is so healing and refreshing for folks!
Every birth has that one moment. 😅
Sometimes it’s deep breathing.
Sometimes it’s a primal roar.
And sometimes… it’s a full-on Kamehameha. 😂
There isn’t one “right” way to labor.
A doula’s job isn’t to tell you how birth should look—it’s to support you through your birth, however it unfolds.
🤍 Every sound.
🤍 Every emotion.
🤍 Every birth.
