Balance and control come first. Speed follows.

When athletes are training, it can be tempting to focus on doing everything faster.

But speed isn’t the first thing we’re looking for.

At NTC Hockey, we want athletes to learn how to control their movement and maintain their balance first.

When you can control your body, stay balanced, and execute a movement properly, you create a much stronger foundation for speed.

That applies to everything we do.. on the treadmill, in dryland, and with shooting and puck control.

Build the control.
Build the balance.
Then let the speed come.

That’s part of what we’re working on when we train the athlete, not just getting them to do more, but helping them learn to move better.

YOUR CHILD DOESN’T NEED TO SKATE MORE.
THEY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO SKATE BETTER.

Speed isn’t just effort.

It’s technique.
It’s posture.
It’s stride efficiency.
It’s learning how to apply force into the ice — and turn that force into speed.

At NTC Hockey, we don’t put young athletes on a skating treadmill just to make them work hard.

We coach every stride.

We slow the movement down.
We identify inefficiencies.
We teach proper mechanics.
Then we progressively build the speed and power to make those mechanics hold up at game pace.

For young hockey players across the GTA who want to become faster, more powerful and more efficient skaters, development starts with learning how to move.

One athlete. One stride. One correction at a time.

🚨 GTA HOCKEY FAMILIES: TESTING WEEK IS HERE. 🚨

What if your athlete could clearly see where they are today, recognize how far they’ve come—and understand exactly what they need to work on next?

At NTC Hockey, testing isn’t about comparing one athlete to another.

It’s about giving every athlete a flashlight—illuminating their strengths, identifying their development priorities and showing them the pathway toward their next level.

Through the Blackburn Methodology, we assess the complete athlete across all three pillars:

⚡ Skating Treadmill
🎯 Shooting + Puck Control
💪 Dryland Training

Our coaches combine objective testing with expert observation to create an individualized athlete report card outlining strengths, areas to improve and recommended next steps.

Because the next level will never be as powerful as YOUR next level.

🔴 CURRENT NTC MEMBERS
Simply book your regular sessions as usual. Testing is built directly into your training—there is nothing additional to book. Our coaches are armed, ready and waiting for you at the Centre.

⚫ NEW TO NTC HOCKEY?
If you have a hockey player between 6 and 13 years old and live in the Greater Toronto Area, we want to help your athlete discover what they’re capable of.

BREAKING NEWS:
That thing you’re obsessing about right now?

There’s a pretty good chance it won’t matter in
6 seconds.
6 days.
6 months.
And almost certainly 6 years. 😂

We spend a lot of life carrying things that were never meant to be that heavy.

Handle what matters.
Love your people.
Do your best.
Laugh at yourself.
And maybe stop treating every Tuesday like it’s a federal emergency. 😂

Life is important.

But that doesn’t mean we have to take it so damn seriously.

They didn’t drive here. They flew 10,000 km to train.

Some families drive across town to train.

This family crossed an ocean. 🌎✈️🇰🇷

For one month this summer, they left home, flew from Korea to Toronto, and committed themselves to getting better.

Twenty sessions.
Four straight weeks.
No shortcuts.
No missed days.
Just consistency.

The biggest transformation wasn’t measured in speed alone.

It showed up in confidence.
In belief.
In the love of the game.

That’s what happens when an athlete commits to the process.

We’re incredibly grateful this family trusted us with their journey, and proud of the work they put in every single day.

Whether you’re coming from across the city or across the world…

Your next level starts with one decision.
