OSS! What an incredible weekend for our academy family!
This past Saturday, June 20th, was a massive celebration of hard work, dedication, and community here at RMA. We gathered together for our Kids and Adults BJJ promotions, and the energy on the mats was absolutely electric!
A huge congratulations to everyone who stepped up, leveled up, and received their new stripes and belts. Your consistency and perseverance are paying off, and we couldn’t be prouder of your journey.
We also handed out some special awards to students who have been going above and beyond—thank you for inspiring everyone around you!
We wrapped up the day the best way we know how: with an epic post-promotion potluck! Home cooked dishes, and endless laughs thank you to everyone who brought food and shared a meal.
We are so grateful for this incredible community. Here’s to the next chapter of training together! Drop a comment below to congratulate our newly promoted team members!

Ippon Seoi Nage.

In this clip, Sensei Bobby explains the position and control needed before the throw happens.

The movement is not just about turning in. The grip, posture, entry, timing, and control all have to work together.

Technique over strength.

The fundamentals remain the foundation.

Back breakfalls.

Learning how to fall safely is one of the first fundamentals in martial arts.

Before throws, takedowns, and live training, students need to understand how to protect themselves when they hit the mats.

Discipline is not built during moments of motivation.

It is built on ordinary days when you still choose to train.

What is No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu?

No-Gi is a style of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where athletes train without the traditional gi. Instead, practitioners wear rash guards and shorts, creating a faster-paced game that focuses on movement, wrestling, body control, and quick transitions.

Many people think No-Gi and Gi are completely different, but they actually complement each other. Training No-Gi can improve your scrambles, takedowns, pressure, and ability to control opponents without relying on grips. When you put the gi back on, those skills often make your overall Jiu-Jitsu stronger and more effective.

Whether you train Gi, No-Gi, or both, every session is an opportunity to learn, grow, and sharpen your game.

Adult classes are more than just training — they’re about building discipline, confidence, and a stronger version of yourself every single day 🥋🔥
Step on the mats, challenge yourself, and keep growing.

Jiu-Jitsu teaches children far more than just self-defense.
It builds confidence, discipline, respect, focus, and resilience — skills they carry into school, friendships, and everyday life.

Every class is a chance for your child to grow stronger mentally and physically in a safe, supportive, and positive environment. Watching kids believe in themselves, overcome challenges, and smile after every class is the best part of what we do.

If you’re looking for an activity that helps your child grow with confidence while having good time and staying active, Jiu-Jitsu is the perfect choice for your family. 🇨🇦
