Rafting the Ottawa River with Boreal River Expeditions | Expéditions Rivière Boréal

This unforgettable experience is waiting for all those who take on the Coulonge River trip. After 13 days of whitewater canoeing in the wilds of Québec, our LITs were picked up by Boreal River Expeditions and taken to raft the Ottawa River.

Thank you to the guides at Boreal for having us, and for making this such a special trip for Camp Hurontario.

A big thanks goes out to our trip leaders Adrian and Charlie for leading the way on the Coulonge River!

DUMOINE RIVER. JULY, 2026

These woodsy LITs spent 11 days deep within the wilds of Québec paddling the Dumoine’s thirty five sets of rapids, passing through some beautiful lakes and portaging around waterfalls.

Evidently, the Dumoine River is also a great place to fish and catch some awesome sunsets.

A big thanks goes out to trip leaders Gavin and Frankie for guiding their campers down the river and teaching them important leadership and wilderness skills on the way. How How!

MISSINAIBI RIVER. JULY, 2026

Camp Hurontario’s July Leaders-in-Training tackled nearly 800km of river from Lake Missinaibi to the shores of James Bay, paddling, portaging and shooting tons of awesome whitewater rapids.

Led by Étienne and Matty, the 19 day trip was a huge success! Thank you to these amazing counsellors for guiding our LITs on their trip.

Here’s to another phenomenal summer at Camp Hurontario!

“Now the summer’s over, we’ve all had some fun
We’ll say goodbye to summer skies and all the friends we’ve won
But all though the winter we’ll look to the day
Back in the islands of old Georgian Bay.”

The countdown to Summer 2027 starts NOW!

Recently at Camp Hurontario…

Loads of awesome days out - fishing off the barge, freezies at O’Donnell’s Point, reaching new heights along the tightrope walk, and windsurfing around the island.

Epic evening events - Ice cream night, Capture the Flag, and our very own rock concert: Campstock 🎸 Neil Young and Crazy Horse made a special guest appearance, and boy did they shred those guitars.

Still to come: The Hurontario Olympic Games!!!

HOOD RIVER. JULY, 2026

Camp Hurontario’s trip above the arctic circle was a true once in a lifetime experience for this group of woodsy leaders-in-training.

Led by their fearless counsellors Will and Doug, the group flew out to Yellowknife at the end of June before taking their canoes and equipment by float plane to the Hood River in the Northwest Territories.
From there they paddled through some of the wildest parts of Canada into Nunavut, spotting caribou at close range, catching huge fish to fillet for dinner, and sleeping under the midnight sun.
Passing by the incomparable Wilberforce Falls is always a highlight of the 19 day trip, which came to triumphant end in Bathurst Inlet on the Arctic Coast.

A huge thank you goes out to Doug and Will for leading the way.

Stay alert for news regarding the Hood River Trip 2027. Our annual information night for this trip takes place in the fall. If you have any questions or would like to express your interest in this trip, contact Camp Hurontario’s office.

Welcome Session D campers, and welcome back to our woodsy trippers!

Today’s all day event was so much fun. We spent the morning breaking camp records all over the island, and this afternoon we chose our own adventures: see featured in this post those who chose to canoe out to O’Donnell’s Point to go cliff jumping. The weather was warm and the view of the open bay was spectacular!

Intro campers play all day! ☀️

Canoeing out to one of our islands to make tie-dye shirts before enjoying a campfire cookout is always a fun time.

Intro camp continues with more awesome activities for these woodsy guys 🐢
