Honoured for the opportunity. I never take for granted when the chance arises to work with students from our NKS family. It was a great morning at NKS Willowdale. Grateful for the experience and the time shared together.

Sharing your martial arts journey is a deeply precious thing. It weaves our experiences into a shared human tapestry, that is NKS. A highly skillful group pictured in December 1983. Sadly 6 of these individuals have passed on.

What truly embodies the essence of sharing excellence? Beyond the foundational skills of punching and kicking, NKS Richmond Hill stands out through its unwavering commitment to building a compassionate and supportive community. Their recent dojo tournament was a testament to this spirit, as they successfully raised nearly $11,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. This remarkable achievement not only highlights their dedication to martial arts but also their profound empathy and willingness to support children in need.

This effort reflects the heart and soul of NKS Richmond Hill—an organization that believes in the power of giving back and making a difference. Such generosity and kindness are the cornerstones of their community, led by the inspiring guidance of Hanshi LaSelva and his dedicated team. Congratulations to everyone involved in this incredible endeavor, and thank you for demonstrating that martial arts can be a force for good, extending far beyond the dojo walls to touch the lives of those in need.

At NKS, when we say ‘it’s a family thing,’ we mean it with all our heart. Here, we see young Vincent Scarcelli proudly posing with his mentor, Andrea Iori. Fast forward 22 years, and the legacy continues as Andrea’s son, Massimo, stands beside his role model, Vincent Scarcelli. More community care in action! NKS Midtown instructors and students warmly welcomed children from St. Cosmas and Damian and Immaculate Conception Catholic schools. Together, they raised over $4,000, giving back to the schools for much-needed supplies.

Incredible achievement by our amazing NKS seniors and students! They've raised an impressive $18,256 for the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Led by the remarkable Kyoshi Dom Moscone, this project honors the memory of Tyler Cohen Wallace.

Today, I received a profoundly meaningful gift from Shihan Niel Mukai—his cherished Tonfa, crafted by the legendary Nat Moscone. Niel has wielded these exquisite Cocobolo (Brazilian Rosewood) Tonfa for well over 20 years, a testament to their quality and craftsmanship. With Mr. Moscone’s passing in 2000, these weapons have become treasured rarities, celebrated globally. Matayoshi Shipo sensei once remarked, ‘best Tonfa I have used, perfectly balanced.’ Niel, a quiet and gentle martial artist, embodies incredible skill matched only by his generosity and kindness. Thank you, Niel; I will treasure these Tonfa always.
