Introducing our Co-Lead Fitness Trainer, Lissa Piercy! LP (Lissa)

Lissa is a fitness instructor, operator, and facilitator who lives with ADHD and bi polar disorder, using movement as part of both her personal and professional practice.

Since 2017, she’s taught hundreds of group fitness classes and held leadership roles across instructor development, programming, and operations. Lissa is certified in both the Lagree Method and Method Room’s TMR Method, is a former Les Mills BodyPump instructor, and previously led a Lagree program where she mentored instructors, helped shape programming, and supported instructor training and development.

Lissa has long used movement as part of her mental health toolkit. Her path into fitness began as someone looking for tools to support her own wellbeing. That experience continues to shape her approach to teaching. She is known for creating classes that are welcoming, adaptable, and challenging, while meeting people where they are.

Accessibility and inclusion have been consistent threads throughout Lissa’s career. She’s facilitated workshops and spoken at conferences internationally, including the Opportunity Collaboration and the Skoll World Forum. Through a fellowship with SmartJob and Enable Ventures, she supported entrepreneurs working at the intersection of disability and technology across multiple countries.

Across fitness, entrepreneurship, disability inclusion, and workforce development, Lissa’s work is grounded in a simple belief: talented people exist everywhere, but opportunity and access do not. She is excited to help develop a new generation of instructors that will expand who feels welcome in fitness spaces.

We are thrilled to have you as part of our team, Lissa!

The fitness industry was built for one type of body.

We’re certifying the trainers who are changing that.

They live this work — they didn’t just study it.

Adaptive Fitness should not exist!!!!!! 🚨

Movement was always meant to be for all bodies. We’re actually putting that thought into action.

Spread the word!!!!

Sekond Skin Society has created professional Yoga Instructor and Fitness Instructor certifications to remove barriers, not just for people with disabilities participating in fitness and yoga, but for them leading in this space!

This is for you if you’ve never found an accessible certification processes that could support you with multiple training delivery formats, peer mentors with disabilities, paid work upon completion and the confidence to get out there and lead!

This is also for you if you’re a current instructor or aspiring instructor who doesn’t want to just learn how to instructor nondisabled bodies, but wants to understand the range of human experiences you could teach in your classes.

Our certifications are accessible, inclusive, built with and by people with disabilities all the way through. You won’t just be learning about accessibility in this space, you’ll be experiencing it in real time through our cohorts that include both disabled and nondisabled participants.

So far our Sept cohorts include aspiring instructors who are Deaf and use ASL for communication, who are blind, who are wheelchair users, are autistic and who have ADHD, along with nondisabled participants.

At Sekond Skin Society we move together, train together, and lead together. Intentionally. By design.

Send a message if you want to get more information about our Sept trainings. We have a few spots left and, once sold out, won’t have the next cohorts available until 2027.
