It isn’t a resilient life if all you do is take the hits.
A resilient life is built on restorative habits and behaviours.

True resilience is resourced.
Living a resilient life means taking care of yourself first.

It isn’t resilience without replenishment.
This misunderstanding about resilience is the root of burnout, anxiety, overwhelm, depression, breakdowns and disease.

A resilient life includes rest, calm, a slower pace, time to breathe and stretch, nourishing foods, glimmers of joy and a sprinkling of ease.
Resilient living includes finding those moments of joy, doing something for the fun of it, and always having something to look forward to.
This is resilient living.

What Is Life Asking of Me? 07/30/2026

“This is now who I am. I am better for the struggle, stronger for the effort, and more confident and self-trusting, knowing that what happened didn’t break me but instead expanded me in beautiful, powerful ways.”

What Is Life Asking of Me? Letting life's hardest lessons shape me into the woman I'm meant to become.

Midlife is a powerful time in our evolution.
Yes, it can feel hard, confusing, and unfair.
It can feel like everything you thought you knew broke all at once.
It can feel like someone took a hammer to all the systems you built.

Now you’re standing there alone, exhausted, and frustrated.
Your day-to-day doesn’t make sense, and your body doesn’t either.
And you don’t recognize the person in the mirror.

Good.
Now you can get to work.

This is when you see something you hadn’t seen before.
When you finally realize what you’ve been ignoring.
This is when you feel something real, connected to your core, and powerful.

It’s time for a new emergence from within you.
It’s time to strip away whatever you’ve long outgrown.
It’s time to move towards yourself.

This is your second coming-of-age
Only this time, you have wisdom to guide you and maturity to steady you.

The older I get, the more I realize the importance of courageous action.
Allowing myself to choose something different.
Taking myself to a new place with a higher perspective.

Listening to what’s calling me instead of ignoring it.
Receiving what’s being offered.

Shutting out the noise of other people’s fears.
Letting others be uncomfortable with the new me.
Leaving people where they want to stay and welcoming the ones who want to join my journey.

There is something profoundly honest and satisfying about admitting what I want.
More alignment.
More peace.
More adventure.
More fun.
More bravery.

I’m not a ‘halfway’ person.
If I’m in, I’m in all the way.

Some days, I am lit up and feeling unstoppable.
Other days, not so much.

There’s no point in beating myself up for not being at 100%.
Instead, it’s exactly when I need to pull back and check in.

Acknowledge that I’m not at 100%.
Do my best at the level I’m at.
Find where I’m under-resourced and refuel.

I’m allowed to give myself grace.
I’m supposed to be in tune with my needs.
And there’s nothing to apologize for when I give the full 57% of what I have today.

This is resilient living.

Last year, I returned to tennis after many years away.
I was so nervous the first day I stepped back on the courts.
At the end, I walked off the courts with the greatest sense of joy in every cell.

This year, I returned to the gym.
I was surprised by how familiar the environment felt to me after so many years.
I realized how much I enjoy it; how strong it makes me feel.

I love that I chose these activities for myself.
That every time I walk into the gym or step onto the courts, it feels fresh and exciting.
And when I leave, I feel confident and proud of myself.

I’m not on fire every day.
Some days I feel weak in the gym, or I miss too many shots on the court.

Still, when I show up and give my best of what I have on that day, it means I showed up for me.

The gym means more to me than the weight on the scale or the shape of my midlife body.
Tennis means more to me than being the best player in the match.

Showing up means I had fun.
It means I’ve banked effort and energy into my health.
It means I’ve prioritized myself.

I didn’t need anyone’s permission to do so.
And I can do this on my own terms, for my own pleasure.

This is resilient living.

Your nervous system needs a break.
Life can’t be all about rushing from one obligation to the next.
Zooming around like you’re the saviour of the world.

Yes, our lives are full and busy, and yet, we need something just for us.
Something that brings us a bit of joy, pleasure, and release.
Something to look forward to that reminds us we deserve a reward for all we do.

This is for the women who are responsible for all the things.
It’s time for you to have a little fun, a slower pace, a luxurious pause.
You deserve good things, too.

This is resilient living.

One of the incredible gifts of midlife is that we finally run out of tolerance for the tired old excuses we’ve been using.

We sound like a broken record, and we’re sick of the consequences, missed opportunities, and feelings of being stuck or powerless that have been on repeat for far too long.

Resilience isn’t only about taking hits and getting back up.

True resilience is acknowledging what isn’t working and changing it.

True resilience is replacing what’s been depleting you with what can power and sustain you.

True resilience is behaviour change, honest, clear thinking, and a commitment to your wellbeing.

It means never returning to what you know you’ve outgrown.

Most women know their loved ones intimately.
We know what our loved ones need or want even before our loved ones have thought about it.
Many of us plan for, shop for, and accommodate their requirements well in advance.

But what about us?
Who knows, plans, shops for, and executes on what we require?
How well do we know what we want or need?

How much time, attention, and energy have we given to knowing and caring about ourselves?
How good are we at letting ourselves be cared for?
How well do we accept help or support when it is offered?

The funny thing is that when we are properly resourced, we can give more and do more with greater ease and without depleting ourselves.

There is nothing more important in our lives than knowing and honouring ourselves.

It’s the boring stuff that makes all the difference.

Brushing your teeth daily isn’t exciting, but the consequences of not doing it are unthinkable.

Stop ignoring all the other habits that ease the ache and pains, keep brain fog away, boost energy and creative thinking, promote gut health that prevents disease and allow for more ‘me time’ moments.

It’s time to embrace behaviour change.
It’s time to choose what’s good for you.
It’s time to enjoy life fully.
