We’re excited to look back at some of our favourite moments from each of the sport stations in the PLAY Stream at the inaugural OneAbility Games.

Next up: Lacrosse

Sticks in hand and smiles all around! Fun was had by all, from learning the basics of cradling and passing to taking their first shots on goal, participants embraced every challenge with confidence, curiosity, and plenty of excitement. For many, it was their first introduction to lacrosse, and hopefully not their last.

A huge thank you to our incredible partners, Lacrossing Barriers , whose passion, expertise, equipment, and volunteers helped create a welcoming and memorable experience for every participant. Your commitment to making lacrosse more accessible is helping more children discover the joy of sport and the power of inclusive play.

First up: Track & Field

From testing their strength with club throw, shot put, and javelin, to racing/rolling down the track, participants embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, determination, and cheers from the sidelines.

Happy Canada Day from OneAbility Games!

Today is a time to celebrate community, diversity, and connection, while recognizing that Canada Day carries different meanings across our diverse communities, and is born from colonization.

We remain committed to fostering inclusive spaces where everyone belongs.

Today at Oaklands Elementary in School District No. 61 we presented Casey with the banner for participating at the OneAbility Games!

His school mates got to learn about the OneAbility Games and try the sport of Boccia. The banner will hang in the school gym to celebrate his participation at the inaugural event.

This National AccessAbility Week (May 31 – June 6), we want to celebrate the people doing incredible work in the accessibility and inclusion space, and today we are shining a light on someone who truly embodies what it means to be a champion, both on and off the podium 🎉

Meet — Paralympian, double world champion, and one of the most inspiring humans we have ever had the privilege of working with. Nathan is a para cyclist and para swimmer whose list of achievements is nothing short of extraordinary: a silver medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games, double world champion at the 2024 UCI World Road Championships, gold at both the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships and the 2023 Parapan American Games — just to name a few.

But what makes Nathan truly special goes far beyond the medals. He is one of the most passionate champions of disability sport and inclusion we know, and his commitment to getting kids with disabilities involved in sport is unwavering. At the inaugural OneAbility Games, Nathan flew back from competition in Italy and showed up the very next morning to emcee our opening ceremonies, with that same infectious energy and joy that leaves every single person in the room wanting to go out and create meaningful change. He connected with the kids, allowing them to see and wear his medals, and sharing what sport has meant to him, and what it could mean to them.

Every time Nathan speaks, people listen. And every time he shows up, he reminds us all of what is possible. We are so grateful to have him in the OneAbility Games family.
