🌳Winnipeg Park Feature

Maple Grove Park, located at 190 Frobisher Rd, was first mentioned in September 1943 for a picnic sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Hostess Club for military servicemen.

🎿 In November 1961 St. Vital Mayor Fred Brennan applied to Metro Council for a $30,000-40,000 ski and toboggan slide. An international archery competition, featuring archers from Canada and the United States was held in Maple Grove Park July 4-5, 1970 to celebrate Manitoba’s centennial.

🐕 The designated off leash dog park is situated on 12.92 hectares of land. It features fields, forest and riverside areas with a number of trails.

🥏 2008 saw the debut of the second ever Ultimate specific park in Canada - The IJL Ultimate Park. The park has 11 Ultimate Fields operated by MODS through a life lease with the City of Winnipeg. 

🏉 Maple Grove Rugby Park was established in1985 with 5 International Sized Rugby pitches, and has evolved into a multi‐sport facility which has hosted numerous school, club, provincial, national and international events for rugby, flag football, lacrosse, ultimate and volleyball.

☀️If you’ve never watched a rugby game, follow and head over to the park on game day! Grab a drink and enjoy the fast-paced, exciting sport while you enjoy the summer weather.

🏃🏼‍♀️There’s nothing I like more than hitting the trails for a run. Bonus if there’s a river nearby!

🥾 Some of my absolute faves for hiking or running include St. Norbert Forest, Camp Amisk Trail, Bois-des-Esprits, Bunn’s Creek, and Blue Stem at Birds Hill Park.

Wanna find some hidden single track gems within the city? Head to any street that runs along one of our rivers and you’re bound to come across some treats.
