Throwback to race day memories 🏃💚
Miles were run, goals were crushed, and a community came together for something bigger than the finish line. Every step made a difference and every runner helped support a cause worth showing up for.
Who remembers these moments? 👇

1 in 5 adults in Manitoba struggles with literacy at a level that affects daily life.
LiteracyWORKS helps change that, one learner at a time. They run free, judgment-free programs across the province. LW has certified teachers running the program and an EA that meets learners where they are. Lives change quietly, then completely.
LiteracyWorks and Ted’s Run for Literacy thanks the Minister of Advanced Education and Training, The Honourable Renèe Cable for their support of adult literacy programs.
When you run with us on October 4, that’s where your registration goes. That’s the cause we’re still showing up for, 17 years later.

Ted was an English teacher. He believed words were the door to everything else — confidence, curiosity, opportunity.
He was also a runner. The kind who knew everyone at the start line, who waited at the finish for the back-of-the-pack, who treated a Sunday long run like a small ceremony.
Ted completed the Police Run 1/2 mary in 2009, died later that evening, heart attack. He was doing exactly what he loved.
This run keeps his name moving, every fall, alongside a cause he gave his life to: helping people read.

For 17 years, runners in Winnipeg have laced up for the same reason: a beloved teacher named Ted. 🧑🏫
Ted loved language, loved his students, and loved the running community he was part of. When he passed away, his family, friends and fellow runners turned their grief into something he would have been proud of — a race that funds 2 organizations; CanU (children programming) and Literacy WORKS (adult programming) in Manitoba.
This October 4, we run for Ted, and we run for everyone learning to read, write, and tell their own story. 🏃♀️ 🏃 🏃♂️
Follow along. We’ll share the route, the runners, the cause, and how to join us this fall.
