One of my students sent me this picture. I think this was taken in 2003 at Salem’s summer camp. I miss Salem, I met him when I was 17 years, I attended many of his seminars back in the days. We ended up being roommate for about two years when I moved permanently to LA. Salem really taught me how to work on form and try to execute the art with beauty and elegance. His kicking form was impeccable. Salem had also great sense of humor, he kept a journal where he wrote every new joke he heard and he would run by me. I had some of the best laugh with that guy… I miss you La Frite 🤗🙏

I’ve been back in Luxembourg for few days now… Pretty cool to find my Old Shooto Membership Card. This card is about 29 years old, I cannot believe it’s still in such pristine condition. Sensei Yori gave it to me after I fought in the Shooto Holand Open European Championship organized by Martin DeJong. I actually lost by choke against Ivan Musardo, a student of Kazeka Muniz. It was a short fight but very active, I remember throwing some good low kicks and connecting hard with my straight cross. I gased out in the end trying to defend the take down and I tapped on the choke… It was a fast fight but a lot of fun…

Sensei Yori said I was ready to go Pro after that and gave me my Pro Shooto-Class C certificate and that card. Back then there were only 34 Pro Shooter Certified in United States… I think I was number 35. Kinda Cool…
