Instagram changed its logo.
So obviously HIER had to as well 🤷🏻♂️
New logo.
Same HIER.
Oddly enough, that feels strangely relevant to fitness.
Because we spend an incredible amount of time worrying about what things look like.
Do I look fit?
Are my arms big enough?
Is my stomach flat enough?
Can you see my abs?
What does the scale say?
And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to look good. Most people do. I do too.
But somewhere along the way, fitness became very good at selling us the appearance of health instead of health itself.
Looking strong and being strong aren’t necessarily the same thing.
Looking fit and being fit aren’t necessarily the same thing.
And the more experience I get, the more interested I become in what the body can actually do.
✅ Can you lift something heavy?
✅ Can you run for the bus without seeing the light at the end of the tunnel?
✅ Can you get up from the floor easily?
✅ Can you carry your kids?
✅ Can you play with them?
✅ Can you climb stairs without negotiating with your cardiovascular system?
And hopefully, you’ll still be able to do most of those things when you’re 60, 70 or 80.
Your body is obviously something you look at, but more importantly, it’s the thing you’re going to experience your entire life through.
So build the shoulders.
Grow that ass.
Get the abs if you want them.
But while you’re working on the outside, don’t forget to upgrade what’s underneath.
✅ Get stronger.
✅ Build muscle.
✅ Train your heart.
✅ Move your body.
✅ Sleep.
✅ Eat reasonably well.
✅ Do cool s**t with the people you love.
Because a new logo is nice, but what’s underneath is what actually matters 💙

“Don’t expect everyone to understand you if you want to be exceptional.”
To become exceptional, you have to be the exception.

You’ve heard about LOOKSMA # # 👀
But have you heard about STATSMA # # ? 🎮💪🏻
The internet has apparently decided that we should all be optimizing our jawline, hair, skin, facial symmetry and whatever the hell mewing is.
If we only have a set amount of skill points, I’ll probably suggest not only using them on looksma # # . I’d like to suggest a few other stats:
💪🏻 Strength
🫀 Cardio
🦴 Muscle
🤸🏻 Mobility
😴 Sleep
⚡ Energy
🧠 Mental health
Because looking good is great. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with training because you want bigger arms, stronger legs, a better ass or to feel good when you look in the mirror.
I would argue that your body is also supposed to do stuff:
Carry your kids.
Play with your grandkids.
Travel.
Run.
Lift heavy s**t.
Get up from the floor.
And hopefully still do cool stuff when you’re 70.
Wanna hear good news?
You don’t need some secret biohack to upgrade those stats.
Lift a few times per week.
Move every day.
Eat reasonably well.
Sleep as much as life allows.
Get your heart rate up occasionally.
And keep doing it for an unreasonably long time.
It’s painfully unsexy advice, no crazy magic tricks, but also works really really well.
Somewhere along the way, if you feel good, and do cool stuff, there’s a pretty decent chance you accidentally unlock:
LOOKS +10 👀
So don’t just LOOKSMA # # #.
Let’s STATSMA # # # in stead.
Build a body that’s good at being a body 💙
