Fiona Tideswell som var med til løbet i går har sendt os denne dejlige løbsrapport. Fionas bemærkninger om betonbarriererne ved enden af molen kan vi kun tilslutte os. Vi kunne godt tænke os snart at komme af med dem!
Thanks, Fiona Tideswell, for this nice run report!

Run Report event 689 Amager Strandpark 19th September 2026
Like tens of thousands of runners and their supporters, my husband and I are in Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen for the half marathon tomorrow- one of the six Superhalfs. There is surely no better shake out run than park run, and decided on Amager Strandpark after reading the positive reviews on the parkrun app. A straightforward two lap course, with just one turnaround at the end of a pier, run entirely on permanent paths sounded appealing. We live in Cambridge where the only elevations on Strava are when you run on the bridges over the River Cam, so we felt quite at home as we crossed the water here four times in total! The trickiest part of the course was just before and just after the turnaround point, with low concrete barriers across almost the entire path with only two narrow gaps meaning single file only for parkwalkers or runners. I was just behind someone running with a buggy and admired them lifting it over the gap!
Unlike all the other parkruns I have run, there are usually no marshals on this course but Amager Strandpark proves that they aren’t needed:
Counter or anti-clockwise around the lagoon, out and back along the pier (minding those bothersome barriers!) then clockwise round the lagoon again.
However this week Hans had arranged for a few marshals to keep all the tourists safe- we are very grateful to the team for putting on the run this week as some events opt to cancel on busy weekends.
Hans had professional help delivering the briefing in English, as none other than Dame Kelly Holmes, double Olympic Champion spoke to us. We promise not to let your physio know you ran today Dame Kelly!
The usual 9am start was delayed slightly…possibly due to the queue for photos with either the Amager Strandpark pop up sign or a selfie with a certain runner. So much respect for Kelly as she was stopped soooooo many times while making her way over to the start.
We had visited Copenhagen in 2018 with our two sons, during a very warm week in May and we all cooled down with a swim in the sea bathing pool, but the weather wasn’t quite right to repeat that today. It was dry and mild, but with a chilly breeze.
Once we finished our pleasant run, we queued to scan our barcodes only to find that a female ahead of us on the course had kindly volunteered to scan today!! Dame Kelly showed that you can combine running and volunteering at the same event, and despite the inevitable demands for photos, the scanning queues were shorter- thank you!
Today there were 638 finishers, supported by 33 hi viz heroes as we call them in the UK.
Nine people completed their first ever park run today- what a great start to the weekend and welcome to the park run family. Your weekends may never be the same again- in a good way- as you plan weekends away, visiting friends and family, and holidays to visit a different park run and even add a new flag to the park run app.
Tusind Tak, København!
Mange tak, Danmark!
