🏊♂️ BEATING THE HEAT IN THE WATER
Most athletes know that overheating affects performance. But did you know that cooling in the water is surprisingly difficult?
On land, your body relies heavily on evaporative cooling. Sweat absorbs heat and removes it as it evaporates. Underwater, that mechanism simply doesn't work.
Elite swimmers can generate 600–1,000+ watts of metabolic heat during high-intensity efforts. Only a fraction becomes propulsion. The rest becomes heat that must be removed.
In cool water, the body can usually dissipate that heat through conduction and convection. But in warmer water or when wearing a wetsuit, heat can accumulate faster than it can be shed. As core temperature rises, power output, technique, and comfort can all suffer.
To help address this challenge, phase-change materials (PCMs) provide an additional cooling pathway by absorbing excess heat through latent heat transfer.
This principle is at the core of the new EZ Hydro-Glide, developed through a collaboration between .co.uk and Ultra Cool Tech. Combining EZ Gains' expertise in performance-focused swimming solutions with Ultra Cool Tech's experience in sports thermoregulation, the teams worked together to develop a solution that helps swimmers manage heat in both warm and cold water environments.
From PCM formulation selection to heat absorption testing and hydrodynamic integration, every detail was designed to deliver meaningful cooling without adding bulk or disrupting performance. It also protects the head from impacts, keeping swimmers safe during the race.
Sometimes, improving performance is not just about producing more power.
It's about managing the heat that power creates.

Polish ultrarunner Tomasz Sobania is currently taking on an extreme challenge: running 50 marathons in 50 days across all 50 U.S. states. Now approaching the halfway point, the "Polish Forrest Gump" is facing extreme heat in several states, a challenge that requires the right active cooling solutions.
Tomasz chose our products to help improve his thermoregulation throughout this incredible journey across the United States. By combining the Glacier Hat and Glacier Towel with proper hydration, he is managing to endure the gruelling conditions on the road, especially in the southern states.
His journey is well worth following, offering valuable lessons in endurance, resilience, and the importance of choosing the right strategies to achieve ambitious goals. Running 50 marathons in 50 days across all 50 states is no small feat, and Tomasz continues to prove what is possible with determination, preparation, and the right support.
