Chinos post

Name: Lewis Blackburn
Course: Business and Management
Position: Back Row

And now onto an veteran of the RGU game, Lewis ‘Chinos’ Blackburn our new fundraiser.

Chinos is known for his fiery game day attitude and for the recent popularisation of the economical ‘Meal Deal’ in Paramount on a Wednesday evening.

Taking on the mantle of Moley is no easy task, but with his fingers in many pies of the hospitality industry, we have entrusted him the famous Movember Ball.

Chinos is no stranger to leadership either, the guy dubbed himself the ‘official’ 2s Vice-Captain last season, barking the loudest orders to of the rest of the forward pack.

Next up is our trusty social sec for the year ahead, Lachlan.

A word from an esteemed colleague:

This year Lachlan will be leading the charge to para each Wednesday, a bad year to be a beer. If you don’t see this man powering through a defensive line you will catch him scrumming his way to the front of the line for a beer. We can’t wait to see what creative plans he has for the year (pls not 7 white tshirt nights!!!) Best of luck fella 💜💜💜

Next up is our mighty Twas Captain, Calum Mackenzie😈

Calum comes from a far away place where things like electricity, fire and sliced bread have not been invented yet, so moving to something called a ‘city’ was a scary idea for him. Despite this calum has made student life his own and been excellent at all parts of his new life especially with joining the rugby team. Calum had never played rugby prior to uni but you would think him trained from birth with how quickly his rugby and drinking abilities have grown through the years

Calum was the clear choice for this year’s twas captain with his near perfection under a high ball, ability to stay positive in all scenarios and he was okay at it last year so if it aint broke dont fix

After having not managed many games last year, calum promises to try much harder in getting games organised. Despite it being near impossible to find another team that can match the twas sheer skill and Raw rugby ability we are sure calum will achieve great things as captain

Mon eh twas # # #

Next up is this years Health and Wellbeing officer, Fred!

A word from an esteemed colleague:

Essentially RGU’s very own John Eales, Fred isn’t exactly your typical second row as he possesses the ability to slot touchline conversions with ease, which is probably a callback to his Australian roots.

Unfortunately however, Fred’s skite attendance is what lets him down sometimes as he occasionally spends his Wednesday nights doing “uni work”, which is a real shame because his chat is actually pretty good.

Fred also possesses the ability to get injured a lot, whether it’s getting a shot to the ribs when he doesn’t even have the ball, getting kicked in the face by one of his own teammates (see Slide 2) or his glass knees giving him trouble again - it’s just as well he studies physiotherapy.

Fred is one of the friendliest lads at the club and is always happy to speak to anyone about anything, especially his Six Nations fantasy team - just make sure he’s actually out before you decide you want to speak to him.

Following in his brother’s footsteps, Sam Fitzgerald steps up to the mantle of club president. After a previous stint as vice president, Sam brings experience to the role, having a full year of watching someone else do all the work for him, whilst still receiving credit. Everyone at the club recognises Sam as one of the players of all time, going into his last year of uni rugby.

With little goals set for the club, it is hard to predict what will happen this season, as the boys will look to push on from disappointment in the league last season.
Here’s hoping for a new exciting season for the boys, go well Sam !!
