The boys were looking to carry on from last week’s good performance knowing that 3 points was a must if we wanted to keep our slim chances of winning the league alive.
We made a couple of changes to the team from last weekend along with a change of shape. We started the game on the front foot, keeping the ball well creating a couple of early half chances and we would take the lead after 8 mins, when Tam burst forward & fired a left footed shot into the corner of the net. Well continued to create chances with the keeper saving from Wardy & Marc, Alfie & Jay tested the keeper with shots from outside the box. It was a shot from outside the box that made it 2-0 when Marc drilled it past the keeper, it was soon 3-0 when Marc’s corner picked Artem out at the back post & his header found the back of the net. We limited Falkirk chances in the half but when they did get an opportunity it came from some slack play from us in a half we had full control off.
We made 5 changes at half time & asked the boys to move the ball that we bit quicker and they would get plenty more opportunities in the 2nd half.
A few minutes into the half, Hayden would make it 4-0 when he slotted past the advancing GK after a great long pass from Tam. The chances would keep coming, with Logan putting in several excellent crosses down the right and we failed to convert. Wardy did made it 5-0 when he cut inside & fired it low past the keeper into the corner, he would then make it 6-0, Marc was fouled on the edge of the box’s but the ref played advantage & Wardy picked his spot into the top corner, Logan made it 7-0 with a good composed finished, Jay converted from the penalty spot to make to 8-0 after Artem was fouled & Artem added our final goal of the game with another excellent headed finish.
Hard to pick a MOM today as it was a professional performance, Euan came on 2nd half to make his debut for the team & looked sharp on the ball, Logan down the right put in several excellent crosses & got on the scoresheet, Marc had a great game in midfield along with Alf as both controlled the game but the award goes to Artem, 2 excellent headed finishes, link up play was excellent & worked the defenders hard all game.
Unfortunately with other results not going our way today, we can no longer win the league but hopefully we can secure 2nd place with a win next weekend.
Ps - apologises to Tam as we still don’t have a squad picture to post on our social media.
Will get this sorted for next weekends game.

We host Falkirk this morning at Caldervale knowing that we need to take the 3 points if we are to keep alive our slim chances of winning the title. It will be a difficult game as Falkirk will be looking for the points themselves as they look to stay in the division.
If you’re at a loose end, get along to Caldervale & support the team.

We made the short trip to Kilsyth knowing that we needed to put in a performance if we wanted to keep our slim title hopes alive.
The boys were very quiet before the game & the coaches feared they weren’t up for it but how wrong we were because as soon as the ref blew the whistle to a man out boys were outstanding. We pressed Kilsyth high up the pitch and they made a few mistakes, our 1st goal came from a great midfield press, Jay picked the ball up out wide & his cross found Logan at the back post & he fired it past the GK. We were in control of the game, winning our individual battles & Hayden latched onto a long ball & calmly finished past the keeper to give us a 2-0 lead.
The boys worked their socks off & defended superbly well, keeping Kilsyth’s forwards quiet and limiting them to half chances.
We asked the boys for more of the same and we started the 2nd half well but we didn’t deal with a long ball & the kilsyth forward raced through & made it 2-1 but we regrouped and it was Brodie who made it 3-1 after a great run from inside his own half, picked his pass out wide & was on hand to tap home after the GK made a good save. We were knocking the ball about really well, every player putting in a shift and we would add a 4th goal when Jay found the bottom corner with a great finish & Wardy made it 5-1 when he cut inside from the left & found the top corner.
We asked for a performance and we got one with a few contenders for MOM, Matthew G playing out of position, our midfielders & forwards pressing really well, we defended well for majority of the game but Jay takes the award, he was dangerous going forward, put in some great crosses that led to goals & topped off a good performance with a great goal.
The game ended on a very sad note though when Kilsyth’s midfielder sustained a serious leg injury and was taken off to hospital.
From everyone at Airdrie CC, we would like to wish Zak Kilsyth Athletic 2010s a speedy recovery and hope he’s not out for too long.

A huge game tomorrow as we look to keep in touch with the leaders at the top. 3 points tomorrow will keep us in the hunt if the teams above us slip up.
We will be looking for a positive performance & result and have trained well all week as we expect a tough 80 mins against a very good Kilsyth side who themselves will be going all out for the 3 points to keep there title charge going.
It’s sure to be another great game, so get along to support the team.

It was 3 points on the board last weekend against a hard working Cambuslang side.
We started well , dominating possession and should have been a couple ahead early on but failed to hit the target when clean through.
We took the lead after a break for Cambuslang where Chris cleared long, Hayden beat his man on the half way line and ran clear before finishing well under the keeper.
We added a second when Alf picked Kerr out with a nice diagonal pass , he controlled it well and forced the keeper into a good save but Artem was on hand to knock home the rebound.
We should have scored more but were guilty of over playing and Cambuslangs dangerous striker got one back just before half time with a good finish.
7 changes at HT saw the game become scrappy until we settled again. Brodie then clipped a lovely ball into Jay and he outpaced the defender before finishing well, Matthew Graham then made a brilliant goal saving tackle just as their striker was about to shoot inside the 6 yard box.
Jay finished the scoring after a great through ball from Kyle , the keeper saved his first attempt but he knocked home the rebound .
MOTM
Alf controlled the first half and the pace of the game but it was unanimous this week.
Matthew Graham takes the award, strolled the game , using the ball well and made a brilliant goal saving tackle for good measure.
We now look forward too another difficult game this weekend when we visit Kilsyth Ath in what will be another cracker between 2 very good side.
