Owned by Maureen Smith, UKA & IDTA fellow and lifelong dancer: Maureen Smith Dancing is a classical, ballroom & latin based dance school in the South West of Scotland. We provide everything from children's weekly lessons to adult evening classes and private lessons. We take part in nationwide competitions as well as UKA (United Kingdom Alliance) medallist scheme. We also hold classes in cheer dance, western line dance and rock n' roll, as well as hosting optional whole school dance shows for the public to watch and enjoy. ✨76th Annual Blackpool Sequence Dance Festival✨

DAY 3 In the Winter Gardens!
A different morning from saturday and sunday with the Inventive!

Freja danced in the Classical and Latin Section partnered by Zoe Patterson🔥
and Gordon entering the Modern partnered by Freja
Entering a Tango, Waltz and Cha cha, all reaching semi finals!✨❤️

Freja’s cha cha was made more special as it was danced to her late uncles (maureen’s brother) band and their version of Mercy!❤️

A special thanks to the Carruthers, Charlie, Beth, Kate and the Pattersons for coming into support our dances!✨
Congratulations to all the winning dances!🙌❤️

In the evening….

✨CHARLIE AND BETH✨
Danced the under 35 Pre Champ Category, and danced into the final being placed an incredible 3rd position!!🥉

✨ZOE AND EMMA✨
Danced In the Open All Ladies and was placed an amazing 2nd🥈and danced so beautifully of the Semi final of the Amateur 5 Dance Championship!🔥❤️

✨FREJA & FREYA✨
Partnered in the Pro/Am and were placed an epic 2nd place🥈
For a small school in South West Scotland we played our part in blackpool and Monday evening was an amazing culmination of 3 fantastic days in the ballroom creating memories to last a lifetime!🪩❤️

Yet again the night ended with us singing the king at midnight and Nick Miles welcoming in Tuesday!!🤣

And now we rest!😮‍💨😴

Day 2 started with our new adult team taking to their rehearsal in the morning!

Anya, evelyn, Aoife and lyla took to the floor early, highlights were…

✨ANYA & EVELYN✨
making every final they competed in, making Latin Sequence, 6 Dance Challenge and Modern Sequence!! well done!!🙌🏅

✨LYLA✨
Once again, lyla made the under 14 classical sequence semi final!!!⭐️

✨AOIFE✨
Once again Aoife made under 16 semi finals!🫶🏻

We are so proud!!!❤️

This is followed by Zoe, Emma and charlie in the adult section !!

With Zoe making the final and charlie making the semi final of the adult solo!!✨🏅

🖤ADULT FORMATION TEAM🖤
Made their debut after 4 years of not having an adult team they took to the floor with pride. This team has been a come back to the competitive floor after several years and we couldn’t be more proud. ❤️

They were placed and incredible 2nd place🥈amongst fabulous teams on the day! congratulations to the Sand dancers on their win!🫶🏻

Who made their debut in the Pre Champ category made the final of the all ladies placing 3rd🥉at their first comp together!!🫶🏻🥰

✨ZOE AND EMMA✨
Who danced together in the Latin Championship and the 6 dance challenge, placing 4th🏅and 3rd🥉⭐️

This night ended with us singing the king at midnight and Nick Miles welcoming in the new day!!🤣

✨76th Annual Blackpool Sequence Dance Festival✨

What an amazing three days our school has had! congratulations to everyone who attended this weekend!✨Here is our saturday highlights…🫶🏻

Saturday was our busy day starting early on with our Juvenile team rehearsal, this was followed by our soloists and couples in competitions💃

✨NOVA✨
who made incredible under 10 semi finals in her first ever blackpool as a soloist🫶🏻

✨JORGIE✨
Making semi finals in the under 12 solos, incredible for jorgie as she dances both lead and follow🪩

✨SOPHIA ROSE & EMMIE✨
These ladies made the all girl final, placing 6th🏅

✨ANYA & EVELYN✨
These ladies made the under 12 Championship final placing 6th🏅

All of these ladies, including Bella and Alia danced in our Juvenile Formation team, Placing an epic 2nd🥈
And was captained by Alia and Emmie!❤️

The juveniles finished the day by dancing TEACHER STUDENT✨

With our partners consisting of Freja, Gordon, Charlie, Zoe, Freya, Beth, Emma and Shannon❤️

Evelyn & Freja made the final in the Classical✨
Anya and Freja made the final in modern✨

This was a fabulous competition, watching our teachers/older pupils giving our children a chance to have a brilliant experience!🙌This comes after weeks of practice and our older ones giving up their time to dance!🪩

Our juniors were represented by….

✨AOIFE✨
Who made semi finals in the toughest fields, after only being on the floor twice since february
Aoife was then partnered by her sister Freya in Teacher/Student which was gorgeous to watch her with her sister!❤️

✨LYLA✨
Made an incredible semi final after just turning 12 in August!! and also danced the Teacher/Student with Zoe and Emma

✨MACY✨
Macy made an epic come back to the ballroom dancing with freja!

Incredibly over 2 heats both Aoife and Macy made the final of Teacher student, with Macy 5th🏅and Aoife 6th🏅in the Classical, and Macy being placed 6th in the Modern🏅

We were then beautifully represented by our adults, in the solos where Zoe, emma and charlie dance!!🙌

We watched zoe dance into the final and be placed 5th🏅

We are so so proud of all of you!!!

Of course none of this would be possible without the support of our wonderful parents and families….🫶🏻❤️
