Some of our County Armagh Golf Club members enjoying Autumn evening sunshine on our new bespoke patio furniture which is in fitting with other furniture that is around the course.

This project was cordinated through Iron Designs Armagh a long time supporter of our club and we thank them for their continued support and the time that they spent in bringing this project to completion.

County Armagh Golf Club Junior Winter Coaching programme begins next Monday, 28 September. We still have a few places available in the 7–8 pm and 8–9 pm classes.

The programme is designed to help junior golfers develop and maintain their swings through the winter, so they’re ready for the 2027 season.

MCANERNEY’S CHARITY OPEN STABLEFORD
Forty two competitors played in the 18 hole competitions and twelve ladies played in the 9 hole competition for the annual McAnerney’s Charity Open Stableford, at County Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 10th September 2026.

This popular and extremely well supported day was very kindly sponsored by McAnerney’s Supermarket, Armagh. A hugely successful coffee morning hosted by Catherine McAnerney and her family, got the day underway with the proceeds going to North Louth Hospice. Competition funds all went to Cancer research.

Lady Captain Julie McCarten welcomed the McAnerney family members back to the golf club. L.C Julie then thanked everyone for coming along and supporting the two charities and to McAnerney’s Supermarket for their continued sponsorship before inviting Paula, Catherine McAnerneys daughter along to present the prizes.

Gerard Toal, playing off a handicap of 27 proved too strong over the two weekends as he prevailed with a total of Nett 134 to capture the prestigious traditional season ending Club Championship.

He just edged out Shea Smyth, playing off 0, who posted an excellent 135 for the two rounds and Andrew Miller off 10 came home in third place with a Nett 137 total.

There were also some excellent scores for the individual week prizes with Derek McKeever off 15 carding an excellent Nett 66 to capture the Week 1 prize and Mark O'Donnaghlie off 25 also carding a Nett 66 to win the Week 2 prize.

Congratulations to all the prizewinners in County Armagh Golf Club Club Championship held over 2 consecutive weekends, Sat 12th and Sat 19th September.

The Annual McAnerney's Charity Open Stableford held on Thursday 10th September began with the traditional coffee morning in the clubhouse.
This was once again hosted by Catherine McAnerney and her family and as always proved to be hugely successful and well supported.
All proceeds from the Coffee Morning went to North Louth Hospice and the competition funds went to Cancer Research.

MIXED GREENSOMES
The third and final Mixed Greensomes competition for 2026 took place at Co Armagh Golf Club
on Friday 7 August and was won by the husband and wife duo of Elizabeth and John
Mawhinney with 46 points.
In second, also with 45 points, was Colette and Maitiu McSorley.
The gross prize was won by Paul Doyle and Paula McCrory with 33 gross points.
There were twos for Catherine and John Vernon at the 3 rd , PJ Quinn and Denise Murphy at the
11 th , Paul Doyle and Paula McCrory and Andy and Gail Steed at the 13 th and Rob and Michelle
Kinane and Colette and Maitiu McSorley at the 18 th .

Forty-five ladies competed in the August Medal at Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 27 August, with a further 23 ladies playing in the 9 hole competition.

The competition was generously sponsored by Glen Maintenance Services.

The winner, with a fabulous nett 64, was Eileen Fitzsimons and second was Hilary Johnston with nett 67.
The gross prize was won by Lily McMullan with gross 80. Bernie McBride was third with nett 67.

The category winners were:
Cat A Philippa McShane nett 68
Cat B Anne O’Reilly nett 68
Cat C Cait McKinney nett 70

Elizabeth Mawhinney won the front 9 with nett 30 and Anna Carson won the back 9 with nett 33.

9 hole competition
The 9 hole competition was won by Grainne Perry with 21 pts, beating Averil Bassett on the countback.

Birdies and Twos
There were birdies at the 2nd for Anne O’Reilly, the 4th for Gail Steed, the 8th for Maggie Donnelly and the 12th for Anna Carson. Twos were recorded by Karen Edgar at the 3rd , Emma Garrigan at the 7th and Anne McDonald at the 18th .
