At the start of Volunteers' Week, a big thank you to all the amazing volunteers who keep Barking parkrun going week after week.
A free, weekly, timed 5k walk/jog/run at 9am every Saturday in Barking Park, Longbridge Road, IG11 8TA. Open to all ages and abilities.
parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful park and get physically active into the bargain. We want to encourage people to jog or ru

We're trying to trace a black water bottle which was left behind at yesterday's run by a visitor. We wondered if anyone might know its current whereabouts?

A reminder that Barking parkrun will take place this Saturday, 9 May (hooray!) but is then cancelled for four weeks due to a music festival in Barking Park (sob!).
At last Saturday’s parkrun we had 215 participants and 20 volunteers. We celebrated milestones for Roberta Lando and Sofiah Shabir (25 parkruns), Emma Roden (50 parkruns), and Ayush Verma (100 parkruns). Ayush can be seen below, celebrating getting a new Personal Best on his 100th run.
Sam Rahman, Haroune Essaki and Dominic Herring were the first three men across the line. Anna Crawley, Rebecca O’Rourke and Shantelle Keech were the first three women.
Do join us this Saturday for our last Barking parkrun until 13 June.
The results have been processed and uploaded. This week was a challenge due to someone crossing the finish line twice, someone refusing to accept the token and someone saying they were not given a token. Additionally we have lost 3 finish tokens.
We think the results are correct although your position may not match the token you were given. If your time differs by say less than 10 seconds please accept that we are human, if you feel it is wildly wrong then email us at [email protected] and we will investigate.

Lee Parker will be running the London Marathon in two weeks' time and raising money for parkrun. Normally we don't promote individual fundraising, but this is definitely an exception to the rule!
His fundraising page is here (click on photo):
Lee's page Why parkrun? It may not seem like your usual charity choice, but there are a number of reasons why any money you wish to donate to see me suffer 26 miles of running will be supporting parkrun. Parkrun

UPDATE - now claimed.
Perhaps you didn't notice how cold it was after the run. If you did but didn't understand why, maybe it's because you forgot your fleece hoodie. We have it with the kit ,so therefore available next week.
