๐UPDATE: Well done to Charlie today. Though it was a 9-21 defeat, as is often the case, the score didn't reflect the great game that it was. This may have been Charlie's first game at Leamington, but we are sure that it won't be his last! ๐๐ ๐

๐๐๐ HANTS & BERKS CUP CHAMPIONS! ๐๐๐
What a fantastic day for Basingstoke Town Bowling Club! ๐
Following a solid semi-final victory over Kingsclere at Howard Park this morning, our Hants & Berks Cup team were straight back out on the green in the afternoon heat for the final against Alton Social.
Town got off to a flying start and led from the outset. Although Alton Social narrowed the gap to 10 shots midway through the game, our team dug deep, pulled away again and finished in style with a superb 59โ35 victory! ๐๐
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to our champions โ a brilliant team performance and a fantastic achievement! ๐๐
๐ Congratulations to Alton Social too, and a massive thank you to all our supporters who cheered the team on from the sidelines throughout the day. Your support means so much!
๐ A special thank you to BDBA President Tony Cooper and everyone at Howard Park Bowls Club for their wonderful hospitality and for hosting such a great day.

๐ What a fantastic journey it has been for Basingstoke Town Bowling Club's Anita Christian & Martin Cullis! ๐
On Weds evening at Cranleigh Bowling Club, their superb run in the National Mixed Pairs came to an end in the Round of 16.
As Hampshire's sole remaining representatives, they took on a strong Sussex pairing with a coveted place at the National Finals in Leamington at stake.
With the scores locked at 8-8 after 10 ends, everything was still to play for, but the Sussex pair found another gear and edged ahead to take the victory.
It has been a tough couple of days for Anita, who had also represented Hampshire in Tuesday's National Mixed Over 60's game against Sussex. Despite winning on her rink, Hampshire were narrowly defeated 92-88 overall, meaning another opportunity to reach Leamington slipped away. In a remarkable coincidence, Anita even found herself facing the same lead player in both matches!
While Wednesday's result brought disappointment, it should never overshadow what has been a truly outstanding campaign. Reaching the last 16 in a National competition is a tremendous achievement, and had the Mixed Pairs been run by Bowls Hampshire rather than Bowls England, Anita and Martin would officially be recognised as Hampshire Mixed Pairs Champions for 2026.
๐ Congratulations to them both on a brilliant run. Everyone at Basingstoke Town is incredibly proud of what you've achieved. ๐
