I love visiting craft shows and seeing what's big and what's new. There's always lots of inspiration, the opportunity to try something new, as well as the chance to catch up with crafty friends.
So what caught my eye at the Creative Craft Show in Farnborough last week? Swipe through to see!
Japanese crafting is on the rise! There were 3 stands that I saw dedicated to this country's crafts, and many others were selling things like sashiko stencils. I loved these ribbons from Crafty Baba Fabrics, so pretty 💕
I'm not very up to speed with the world of fabric crafts, but it seems to me that quilting is quite "in" at the moment! There was a lovely little quilt exhibition and there were a few stands selling fabric packs for quilting. I particularly loved the quilting on the one, can you spot the flower?
Slow stitching, especially abstract and more 'wonky' styles are increasingly popular as an antithesis to our fast paced speed of living and perfect AI creations. I thought these little houses from Moonlight Stitches were so sweet.
I think the craft world has always gone hand in hand with the opposition of fast fashion. I loved this stand from Sarah B which championed carbon zero clothing, made with treadle sewing machines! There was also the opportunity to buy supplies for darning and mending clothes at Alfven I Visible Mending, Sashiko & Repairing Clothes 💕
If you go to a show like this, make sure you do at least one workshop, or join some of the "make and take" opportunities on the stands. It will really add to the fun of the day. I tried pyrography for the first time - it's much harder than it looks! 😂
I loved the opportunity to catch up with makers that I've worked with in the past, including imogen melissa, BekBek Makes - UV Resin and Inion. They're all lovely people so it was so good to have a chat (do say hello if you see them at a show). So sorry that I missed Cardmaking Kits | Della though! 😭
