No Regrets Running Bath

Last night’s Social Run @ Glasshouse. Again another bumper edition with a couple of runners all the way from Australia!

I’d planned the 8.1km route when it was 30 degrees outside but the temperature was a bit lower than that yesterday evening. So through the tunnels we went but not to shelter from the sun, but the rain 🌧️- yes that wet stuff from the sky!! 🤷‍♀️ See last photo for rainbow proof…

Our route took us down Perrymead, across the secret field 🤫 to the cycle path. Through the short tunnel to Bear Flat, Greenway Lane, then down the steps back to the cycle path, long tunnel out then back up more steps to Summer Lane, with a Shepherds Walk finisher.

We have a break from Social Runs in August (but there are still some ad hoc training runs - see website). We’ll be back on 10th September for a fully daylight 🤞run then we’ll start our alternating winter off road & on road runs. Details will be live soon on the website so please check regularly.

Last night’s Social Run @ Glasshouse led by Susan Susan Fletcher with a trusty crew joining in the heat. Apparently Susan’s face was so red that facial recognition didn’t recognise her on her own phone 🥵🤣.

An 8km route along shady trails & surprisingly few hills. Understandable and wise!

Last night’s Social Run @ Glasshouse - what a stunning evening!

Our 8.4km route took us along Shepherds Walk, down through Beechwoods, along to Tucking Mill (no telling off from the Wessex Water robot 😬), along the cycle path to Midford then via the fields to Combe Hay lane, up over the fields to Southstoke and finally across the plateau back to the start. 170m vertical elevation, boom 👊.

Last night’s Social Run @ Glasshouse was spectacular! A bumper crew, blue sky, sunshine, fantastic views & perfect trails.

Our 8.2km circuit with over 200m of elevation took us to Southstoke, down to the woods, over Combe Hay lane and up to Upper Twinhoe. Along the field edge and down to Combe Hay, back up the track and then through the woods via Millennium viewpoint. Handily ending up at the Cross Keys for a well-earned drink!

Lots of chat as always and the somewhat obligatory stumbles by Julian Lye and John Dunn 🙄.

It’s not just Medal Monday, it’s Trophy Monday 🏆!!
I’ve never been on a podium for anything ever before!!

Our superb team of 4, Susan Yas Nicki & me grabbed ourselves 3rd place in the Small Team Female category at this weekend’s in Wasing Park.

That was 27 laps of an 8km hilly trail course so 216km in 24 hours & 2 minutes. Mostly in the pouring rain. Boom 💥. In fact we were the highest placed team of 4 women!

We were disciplined to perfection, handovers were prompt and camaraderie outstanding.

There’s plenty of tales to tell (for the pub sometime) but for now I remain humbled and bursting with pride in equal measures. And a bit tired 😴.

Thank you beyond words to my teammates & to all our supporters, some of whom stayed up late on Saturday to watch our progress (it was about 3am when Susan realised we were in 3rd place, up from 4th…and we secured our final position by just 8 minutes 😬).

And thanks to the team at - I’ve done some of their events before and they are superbly organised. They literally do everything for you (apart from the running obvs).
