✨Good News Week✨

Strawberry Hill, a 377-acre former farmland site between Kettering and Bedford, was bought by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire in 2024 after a £1.5m fundraising appeal.

Since then, surveys have discovered hundreds of species, including half of Bedfordshire’s nightingales, 11 bat species, 50 types of moss, 27 butterfly species, 148 moth species and nearly 1,000 invertebrate species.

The trust has improved the habitat by creating ponds, building dams and introducing grazing cattle to manage scrub, helping birds such as warblers and turtle doves. Plans also include a small car park and an educational building so visitors and schoolchildren can learn about the area’s wildlife, with the trust hoping Strawberry Hill will continue to protect biodiversity and inspire people for years to come.
