Please see the below statement from the CPA:

Dear Members, Clubs and Interested Parties,

The Board of the Circuit Powerboat Association (CPA) wishes to inform members and the wider sport community that Chairman Chris Loney resigned from his position on Monday 11 May 2026.

The Board would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Chris for his commitment, leadership and contribution to the formation and development of the CPA since its establishment in 2018. Chris has devoted a significant amount of personal time and effort to supporting and developing the sport, and his contribution over the past eight years is greatly appreciated.

The CPA continues to operate entirely through the dedication of volunteers who give their time to support the sport and its competitors. The Board remains grateful to everyone who contributes to the continued running and development of circuit powerboat racing, and welcomes anyone interested in becoming involved in supporting the future of the sport.

Over the coming months, Vice Chairman Peter Mantripp will assume the role of Interim Chairman whilst the Board considers the future structure and direction of the CPA. Any nominations or expressions of interest for the position of Chairman will be considered by the Board in due course.

As a member-led organisation made up of both a Board of Directors and club representatives, the CPA remains committed to working collaboratively with clubs and competitors for the benefit of the sport as a whole.

The Board also recognises that the sport is currently facing a number of significant challenges. These include the reduced number of events currently being held at SWSC, together with the ongoing situation at LOBMBC following the tragic accident which resulted in the death of Brett Duncan. LOBMBC, with the support of the CPA, continues to work closely with the relevant authorities in relation to ongoing regulatory matters. As these discussions remain ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.

Despite these challenges, the Board remains committed to supporting clubs, competitors and the continued development of circuit powerboat racing.

We thank all members, volunteers, clubs and supporters for their continued support, patience and commitment to the sport.

Kind regards,

Circuit PA Board
