Ardoyne WMC 2:1 New Santos

New Santos played their final league game of the season today. In sunny conditions, the lads battled throughout the 90 minutes. We created good chances and our defence got in many last gasp tackles and blocks.

Ardoyne went ahead in 30th when a strike from long range just sneaked in at the post. Santos responded quickly when Matt Bell equalised in the 40th minute.

Both teams created chances in second half and it looked like it would end in a draw. However in the last few minutes, Ardoyne were awarded and converted a penalty.

New Santos went all out in and had the ball in the net in 92nd minute. However, celebrations were cut short when the referee awarded a free kick for a “foul” on the keeper. To be fair, the ref had a very good game.

The late goal was very harsh on the lads who gave it their all for the 90 plus minutes. Great effort and attitude all round.

⚽️ Matt Bell

Best wishes from our club to the Ardoyne player who suffered a leg injury late in the game.

Zim South Africa 1:5 New Santos

A strong team performance today. It’s been a tough few months but the team has continued to stick together. It was great to see real workrate until the final whistle. Plenty to build and improve on.

Special mention for Keith’s stunning 25 yard free-kick. 👊🏻

New Santos 1:3 Abbey Athletic

Our team gave their all in the final of the Shield. We were 0:2 down at half-time but came roaring back in the second half-time. A fantastic strike from Chris Moffett made the game 1:2 after 56 minutes. Santos pushed and pushed for the equaliser but Abbey held firm. With minutes left, Santos went for broke and pushed everyone forward. However in the 89th minute, Abbey countered and scored their third. 💔 It is a tough result to take but the lads gave everything for the full 94 minutes.

Well done to Abbey Athletic for lifting the Shield. The game was tough but played in great spirit by both sides. Also, well done to the referee and assistant referees.

We especially want to thank our fantastic support for turning out to cheer on the team. It was brilliant to see so many friends, family and ex-players from throughout the decades. Your support was simply amazing - thank you all! Football can be a tough game but it means so much to see our fans turn out in numbers to cheer the team on.

The club went back to Parador Bar for post match drinks and food - again it was brilliant to see everyone there, enjoying the craic and talking about the great times they have had with Santos.

Definitely not the result we wanted, but even still tonight was a good night for our club, with everyone enjoying the craic, the beers and the grub.

We go again and will every week. New Santos is bigger than football, it’s family.

Forza Santos❤️ ⚫️

Shield Final Day is finally here!!

New Santos take on the big favourites, Abbey Athletic, this evening at Ulidia, Ormeau Rd at 7pm. Can Santos upset the odds to take home the Shield? 🤞🏻🙏🏻

All support is welcome. Sure what else would you be doing on a Saturday evening? The “Masked Singer” is over and it’s only the “Love Island” highlights on a Saturday. Get your dinner in early, grab a coat and come along and cheer on the lads in 🔴 and ⚫️.

Here’s hoping for a great game of football, played in the right spirit and the Shield heading to Strangford Avenue, via the Parador.

C’mon New Santos!!!

Call out to all friends, family and past players to come along on Saturday evening to get behind our team.

New Santos are the “underdogs” with the bookies so it would be great to have a passionate support on the sideline. And the weather is forecasted to be dry and a bit warmer. 🤯

Admission is £5 and £3 concessions at the gate - cash only. However, we’ll buy you a drink back in the Parador post match!!
