Junior golfers came together for Charlie Robinson’s Junior Captain’s Day on Sunday 13th September.

The event made a welcome return after a 6-year break.

The young golfers enjoyed a meal and prize presentation, with thanks to event sponsor McDonald’s Dundonald for their continued support.

William Walker took the top spot in the handicap section. He lifted the McDonald’s Trophy and Gold Medal. 🏆

Shea Carville was the winner of the Michael Martin Trophy in the non-handicap section. 🏆

𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗵𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝟰𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 ⛳🥳

Aberdelghy Golf Course is celebrating 40 years of golf, community and memories this September.

The facility first opened in September 1986. It was built on the grounds of a nineteenth-century stately home that had been abandoned for many decades before the site was transformed into Aberdelghy Golf Course.

To mark the milestone, Lambeg Golf Club, which was established at Aberdelghy Golf Course, will host a special celebration on Saturday 19th September 2026.

Club Captain Ernie McAleenon will host his Charity Day in aid of the club’s charity partner, Friends of the Cancer Centre.

Councillor Sharon Lowry, Chair of the Communities and Wellbeing Committee, welcomed the anniversary celebrations: “Forty years is a fantastic milestone for Aberdelghy Golf Course. It is wonderful to see how the course has grown over the years.

From its beginnings as a nine-hole course to the 18-hole course we see today, Aberdelghy has continued to improve. The redesigned holes and new driving range are great examples of this.

It is also fantastic to see Lambeg Golf Club continuing to celebrate its strong connection with Aberdelghy Golf Course. I look forward to joining members on Saturday 19th September as we celebrate this special occasion.”

Golfers came together at Castlereagh Hills Golf Course on Saturday 5th September for Tommy Sloan’s President’s Day. 🏌️‍♂️

The annual competition brought members and visitors together for a great day of golf, followed by a meal at The Hills Bar & Restaurant , where golfers enjoyed an evening of entertainment and an eagerly awaited prize presentation. 🍽

Prizes were presented by the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Brian Higginson, who joined golfers to celebrate the occasion.

Speaking at the prize presentation, Mayor Councillor Brian Higginson said: “It was a pleasure to join the members of Castlereagh Hills Golf Course for Tommy Sloan’s President’s Day. Events like this are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the club, recognise the achievements of its members and enjoy the strong sense of community that golf brings.

I would like to thank Tommy, the committee members and everyone at Hills Bar & Restaurant for all their hard work in organising such a successful day.”

Congratulations to Lambeg Golf Club on winning the Ulster Seniors yesterday at Scrabo Golf Club. 🏆

The team beat Faughan Valley 3–1 in the final to secure a fantastic result.

Joan Somers celebrated her Lady Captain’s Day on Saturday 22nd August, with club members enjoying a fantastic day of golf.

Members took to the course across a mix of 9-hole and 18-hole tee times, with most of the club’s Lady members taking part.

𝗨𝗹𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟵 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗵 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲🏌️‍♀️

Castlereagh Hills Golf Course hosted the prestigious Ulster Under 19 Girls Inter-club Tournament on Monday 3rd August. This was the sixth year the competition has been held at the course.

A total of 18 clubs participated in the competition with Portstewart Golf Club taking victory in the Ulster North section and Belvoir Park Golf Club winning the Ulster South section. Both teams will now go on to compete in the All-Ireland Final.

Councillor Sharon Lowry, Chair of the Communities and Wellbeing Committee, said, “It’s fantastic to see another junior tournament take place at Castlereagh Hills Golf Course, following the success of the boys event last month.

Today’s competition showcased excellent talent and sportsmanship. Events like this play an important role in developing the next generation of golfers.

I would like to thank Golf Ireland for organising the event and wish both Portstewart Golf Club and Belvoir Park Golf Club every success as they progress to the next stage of the competition.”
