We’ve spent this week looking at angles, positioning and movement around the goal…
Knowing where they need to be is only one part of it….

Recognising when to use the different footwork patterns is really important and maintaining a good shape while transitioning is vital for a keeper to make saves…

2v1’s loads of different opinions on the best way to deal with them from a GK perspective… my takes are

1. Don’t commit unless you are certain you can win the ball….
2. Delay the player in possession to allow cover from defenders…
3. Close down space but allow a distance that lets you react to a pass or shot on goal…
4. Stay calm… calm GK’s make better decisions…
5. Remember it’s 2v1 and you can only react to what the player with the ball does so BE READY….
