Two fixed bikes tonight. After waiting on parts for days, the final pieces to the puzzles arrived.
The orange bike came in for new shifters, chain, freewheel and rear mech. Then a quick service and a new brake cable.
The 2nd bike came in originally just to have new gear cable and outer cable sections fitted but on starting the job, I realised that the rear mech fitted was not compatible with the shifter. For started, it was a shimtemu rear mech which is for 6/7 gears. The cassette fitted was 9 gears. Next the shifter was a SRAM x5 which if you know SRAM, depending what speed gearing your using, it has a different pull ration to Shimano. The customer ordered the rear mech and as soon I got home from work, I i got it fitted. All shifting nicely!

Hi, just to let you know, I will be closing for a week from the 16th of August. A well deserved break is required! From my main work and bike repairs. The last week at my main job is ridiculous and the bike repairs here are building and waiting on parts.

Feeling a bit guilty tonight. Where I can, I will always try to save a bike. But if it's not cost effective, it's got really bad bones, I will be honest and tell you it's not worth saving even if I have to do pricing up for it.
A "bike" (frame, wheels and broken steerer forks) came to me today to build back up
It's needed, new shifters new chain, cassette, chainset(middle and small ring worn out) new tyres, new headset to fit the replacement forks (as provided by the customer) cables and then all the labour cost to get the bike to something resembling a bike again (oh, and the hubs needed servicing too. It's just wasn't worth all the work for what the bike is worth

Another bike finished back home to its owner is this giant. It was originally just in for a puncture (which happened again.. bloody sneaky thorns!)
I noticed that the whole drivetrain was completely worn out and the brakes were squeaking like crazy!
New cassette (which is one of the parts I was stressing about), chain, jockey wheels and chainring.
Removed and cleaned the brake pads and cleaned the rotors as they were both contaminated.
Checked everything was tight.
Collected this afternoon and cycled 5 miles home. All that I could do on it to get it to ride well again has been done.
Another happy customer 😎😊
Keep riding and look after your bikes! 🚲

When you take a bike that has sat for me years and needed some serious tlc to a fully working nice looking bike again.
New brake pads, chain, seat clamp, service loose hubs, clean the bike etc etc.
The brakes are a bit squeaky at the moment but I think with a bit of use, they'll be fine

Getting stressed! What else can go wrong? Ordered parts and not arrived as the seller has gone away(that wasn't showing when I ordered the item)
Also royal mail post going to the wrong destination and now no updates of tracking since Saturday.... I'm thinking I should just go on holiday at the moment 😂

No more availability for the rest of the week coming... Were into bookings for the week after now. Sorry

2 success stories and two very happy customers. The 1st pic obviously I posted about earlier. However, the customer took it for a ride around the block and was so happy with how it rode considering how it rolled into the workshop.
The 2nd one had a few issues when it arrived. The outer gear cable to the front mech had snagged on something and ended up braking it. Replaced with new outer and a new gear cable. Brakes needed investigating as they squealed a lot. Rear pads replaced and front ones cleaned then a service checking the gears shifted ok, nut and bolt check, tyre pressures.
I received a message later that the owner of the bike was happy with his bike again and it rode like when it 1st came from the shop 😊

It's been a little while since I posted last but this one needed to be documented... It has had a lot of work but all worth it!
New chain, cassette, front wheel, tyre, shifters, brake pads, cables, a lot of clean up and servicing. I even got the front mech working again after being seized for a long time.
I hope the customer is overjoyed with the bike when I return it later 😊😎

Sram, well done...
Standard cassette Vs XD driver cassette...
Standard retails roughly £70 for a 12spd
XD driver one... Around £150 for 12 spd
Now, I will admit, the XD one is marginally lighter and does look a thing of beauty but the extra £70+ doesn't seem worth it..
