Back in 1999, Hannah was a 21-year-old lifeguard at Jubilee Pool.

The staffroom was where the gym is now, and there was even a smoking room. Different times!

On 11 August 1999, Hannah remembers her shift being strangely quiet:

“It was sooooo quiet that session! I went outside and remember thinking how weird the light was. I remember everything seeming pinky.”

That day was a total solar eclipse - and Hannah witnessed it from Jubilee Pool.

Tomorrow’s eclipse is a different beast: a partial eclipse, but it should still be a pretty special sight.

So, if you’re at the pool, make sure you take a moment to experience this little bit of celestial magic for yourself. 💙

Today, Trustee Pete completed the final mile of his amazing Jubilee to Jubilee challenge at the iconic Jubilee Pool in Penzance.

After swimming an astonishing 157 miles at Jubilee Pool Bristol, Pete travelled to Cornwall to finish his 158th and final mile, bringing an extraordinary fundraising challenge to a fitting close.

As a thank you for the warm welcome and support from Jubilee Pool Penzance, we were delighted to present Liz Kay with a framed Helios print by Luke Jerram on behalf of Jubilee Pool Bristol.

Pete’s determination, commitment and passion for community pools have inspired us all. Every length swum has helped raise vital funds to support the future of Jubilee Pool Bristol, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
