Borders Girls' Rugby

Borders Girls' Rugby An award-winning collaboration of Girls from across the Borders joining forces to form U16 and U18 Girls Teams. Players from other clubs are welcome to join.

Our goal is to improve development opportunities for girls playing rugby in the Borders, in a positive welcoming environment. Joint training

From the start of the 2024/25 season, for Under 18s and Under 16s there will be weekly training sessions on Fridays (provisionally) at 5-6pm, usually at Kelso RFC, led by a new Borders Girls Head Coach. This training will occasionally be held at other venues. Girls can continue to train at home locations on other days (Berwick Tuesdays, Kelso/Gala Wednesdays). Under 14s and under 12s will continue to train at their home clubs with monthly joint training with other clubs rotating between Berwick, Gala and Kelso. Joint teams

For national competitions, we will enter a single team at Under 16 and Under 18, so that we can play at 15-a-side levels. Girls will be dual registered (if necessary) with their home club and with Kelso RFC.

On fantastic pitches in glorious sunshine it was great to see these girls represent The South in the Inter District Games. After coming together just over a week ago it was great to see their teamwork on the pitch.
Lots of positives to take from today as well as some work on’s for the next round at the Oriam.

We are very proud of all our players, and in particular today the 11 Borders Girls players chosen to represent the South of Scotland for the first weekend of the U16 and U18 Inter-District festivals. Congratulations to all who will be playing on Sunday, as well as our Head Coach, Allison Whitson, who is part of the coaching set up for the Under 16s.

Sunday saw us travel to Leith Rugby for our first Cup game of the season. In a close well-contested match our girls put in an excellent shift, with good joined up rugby between the forwards and backs, and strong work at the breakdown.

Many thanks to Leith for hosting us and best of luck in the Bowl. We go on to Round 2 vs Ayr Rugby Club Girl's Section in two weeks.

Today we welcomed our friends and rivals from Dunbar RFC to Netherdale. Thank you for a great game of rugby, well-contested and played in an excellent spirit. Congratulations to Dunbar on a hard-fought win. We are very proud of each and every player pulling on a Borders shirt this weekend. Rest well - we go again next week.
