Carnoustie 1-5 Maryfield Ambers

After Sunday’s game we knew we had to raise the levels to compete against a very direct Maryfield team and we absolutely did that.

We asked for Heart, Desire, Competitiveness and a whole lot of teamwork. The boys done all of us proud.

The scoreline definitely doesn’t tell the story here and if we’d have been more ruthless in our finishing in the first half we’d maybe be telling a very different story.

A lesson learnt for the attackers who will be keen to improve on Sunday.

Well done to Maryfield who took the chances that came their way and we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.

On Wednesday we start our 26/27 league campaign.
We’re under no illusions how tough a start we’ve been given but we are fully focused and ready to challenge for the 3 points on offer.

Good to see a couple of the Maryfield players watching our last training session aswell 😜

We faced off in the final group game against Riverside at a drizzly Oswald.
Winner tops the group but both teams had already qualified.

We knew Riverside would be a tougher test than the last two games and we gave ourselves a mountain to climb in the first half.
You can’t win a game in the first half, but you can definitely lose it as we found today.

No challenges, lazy, no desire. Recipe for disaster.

At half time we had a look at ourselves and demanded change. That change came.

Second half we won what felt like every 50/50,
Had plenty of chances to score more than one. Just didn’t take the chances that came our way.

Credit to the boys for fixing it to a degree in the second half.

Fortunately we get a chance for revenge next Sunday when we face today’s opponents in the East region cup.

Before that though, an evening game against Maryfield Ambers. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

We go into our final group game on Sunday with both teams having qualified with two wins from two.
Both sides will be looking to leave a good impression however as we face off the following Sunday in the East Region first round.

We will be without Ru as he’s jetted off to Belgium to represent Scotland in Ice Hockey! 🏒 Good luck Ru! 💪

But the squad has been fully put through their paces throughout pre season and again this week with two great sessions and we are fully ready for a tough test against a fellow top tier side. ⚽️⚽️

A really professional performance today in our 2nd group game.
As is the case around the county the pitches desperately need some rain with the bounces going well over players heads and a very stop start game with a world record amount of throw ins!

Never really in doubt and we restricted Arbroath to 1 real chance of note which went wide. We were dominant in the 50/50s and got the ball forward well.

3-0 up at half time and after a steady 10 minutes we made all 7 subs.

The performance was really good and still we never looked like conceding.
With 2 late second half goals from former Arbroath players Leel & Omar we head into the Riverside match next week full of confidence.

Match Preview ⚽️⚽️⚽️

We go into our 2nd derby match in as many games to start the season with a short trip to Arbroath to face Arbroath Youth Blues 2012.

With a 6-1 win last week and a lot of lessons learned we are full of confidence of another positive outcome for us.

Let’s get another 3 points on the board as we look to cement our place in the top 2 of the group before a final group match next week.

A great morning at Oswald for us today as we beat Monifieth Reds 6-1.

Firstly how great do the boys look in these new kits sponsored by Carnoustie Groundcare Repair💪⚽️

First half we made it very hard on ourselves and the strength in depth off our bench was fantastic as we showed the quality we know we have.

Monifieth were left chasing shadows for much of the second half as we moved the ball much quicker following on from what we’ve been doing in training.

We’ll look to start much quicker next week when we head up the A92 to our neighbours Arbroath.
