Combe Colts travelled to Forton on Saturday looking to extend their four-game winning streak, carrying the momentum from their cup success and an impressive opening-day victory over early rivals Charmouth.
With several players unavailable, and four lads stepping up to support the squads above, the Colts travelled with a much-changed side from the previous week. It did not take long for the new-look team to settle.
Just six minutes in, Emil Szydełko opened the scoring, and only five minutes later he had his second. The Colts continued to control proceedings, with Louie Dyer adding a third before the break to send Combe into half-time 3-0 up.
Forton came flying out of the blocks after the restart and pulled one back with an effort that crashed in off the bar. The hosts had their moments throughout the game, but Andrew Sochon was outstanding, dominating his box and producing some brilliant saves to keep Forton at bay.
Combe soon restored their three-goal advantage when Nelson Ezekiel rose highest from a corner and powered a header into the back of the net.
From there, the goals began to flow.
Louie Dyer completed his hat-trick, while Nelson grabbed his second with an absolute screamer, meeting the ball first time on the edge of the box and firing an unstoppable rocket into the net. If the goal had not stopped it, that ball might still be travelling now.
Nathan Doel then got his name back on the scoresheet to round off a dominant afternoon for the Colts.
Five wins on the bounce and top of the table for the Colts.
Attention now turns to the County Cup, as Combe welcome Banwell Colts to Combe this Saturday.
