Last Saturday, back by popular demand, was our second Out the 🎩 doubles tournament (aka The Rachel Cup)! A great afternoon of fun tennis with Rupert & Nicky and James & Colette making the final. Rupert & Nicky came through with the win after a very closely contested match! 🏆 Thereafter we all got stuck into a very tasty tea! 🍰🧁🥮🥖🧀🍎☕️🫖😋

A big day yesterday for Chard Tennis Club….doing the double by winning both the Mixed and Men's Knock-out Cups at Trull, beating Sherborne in both finals! 🏆🏆 The first time ever Chard TC has won either of these two KO Cups! 💪💪

Well done to all players who have represented the club in the KO Cups this season:

Mixed: Rupert, Lucy, Paul, Georgie, Clare

Men’s: Rupert, Paul, Fin, Oliver, Shingo, Jack

A special mention to Rupert & Paul for playing in both Finals (8 sets in total plus a Championship Tie Break each!) on what was a very hot September day! ☀️☀️

Big win for our men's team in the Knockout Cup semi-final last night, securing an impressive 8-2 victory against Trull. 💪
Now we look forward to the finals day on 6th September at Trull to round off the summer season, where our men's and mixed teams will be competing for the trophy 🏆

We recently hosted our inaugural Mixed Open doubles tournament, The Zembard Trophy. On another glorious summer’s day ☀️, 12 pairs from local clubs, including some from Chard, competed in two groups, with the top two pairs in each going through to the semis and then the final. Congratulations to Paul & Georgie for winning 🏆💪 and thank you to everyone who took part and made it such a great day.

Big thanks to Chard club captain, Rupert, who conceived and organised The Zembard Trophy - a brilliant club day and hopefully now an annual event!🎾👟☀️

The Men’s A team (Rupert, Paul, Charlie, Fin) this week had a very closely contested match v Yeovil As. The final score was 4 sets apiece but Chard won on games (6-4)! 💪 Well played chaps - a great win! 👊🎾👟

Our annual Club Tournament which started in April culminated in the Finals’ Day last Saturday. Results below! It was a similarly scorching ☀️summer’s day to last year’s, with 30 degree temperatures 🥵, but a slight breeze provided a welcome relief to players and spectators, many of whom entered into the spirit of the ‘hint of Wimbledon’ dress code! 💜💚🤍Starting with the juniors in the morning and finishing on a lovely balmy evening with the men’s doubles, everyone had a fantastic time. We all enjoyed a delicious BBQ 🌭, strawberries 🍓 & cream and an endless supply of Pimms 🍹as well as various delicious cakes 🍰🥮. Thanks to everyone who helped on the day, but the biggest thanks to our Club Captain, Rupert, who devoted many hours from April onwards to the organisation of the tournament and to Finals’ Day itself 🙌🏻. It was a wonderful club day!
