It was great to welcome Ryan Thorpe and several of his team down to St Mary's this evening, to meet some the junior members and coaches and to also see the new ring canvas they sponsored, in action, being used👌🏾🥊
It was also great to see one of the AAA team, (ex St Marys Junior ABA champion) Danny Bennett, who put in a good word for St Mary's, to help give something back👌🏾
Thanks again for the support, Medways only registered charity Boxing club, really benefits from these kind gestures, that help St Marys continue to service the Medway community 🙂

Finally, not many sports clubs reach 100 years old...It's great having good boxers, but without coaches giving up hours, clubs cannot continue...We decided to give all coaches who attended today, past and present a St Marys medal for their services to the local community🏅...Just a little keepsake, to acknowledge their sacrifices🥊

Oh, it was also great to meet this guy today, who must be the oldest living St Marys boxer at the ripe old age of 92!...Out of the blue, Alec Johnson walked into the club celebration...Then let us know that he started Boxing for St Mary's in 1945! He then proceeded to get old newspaper clippings and pictures out of his bag...It was fascinating hearing the stories of how the club was in the 1940's and 50's...Got the train all the way from Ashford to be here and you could see the passion when he spoke about his Boxing days👌🏾🥊
We exchanged contact details and hopefully we can keep in contact, what a guy🥊

Well, what a great afternoon for St Mary's Boxing clubs 100 year celebration today👌🏾🥊🎂
It was a good turnout and was great seeing and catching up with so many ex boxers, parents, ex coaches etc, all come together to celebrate one common interest, St Mary's has had a positive impact on their lives👊🏾
It was great that some of the most decorated ex boxers to come out of the club, such as Karol Itauma, Johnny Armour and Ian John Lewis etc were there, but equally, it was good to catch up with lots of other ex boxers, who may not have reached the same heights in Boxing, but still are part of the 100 year history👊🏾

A century of champions: Boxing club reaches major milestone A century of boxing excellence will be celebrated this weekend as St Mary's Amateur Boxing Club marks its 100th anniversary.

Would be good to invite them along on his behalf, as he is a massive part of the first 50-60 years of St Marys Boxing club🥊.
