We also hold monthly club days in which we shoot our novel "scene shoot" format. In the meantime, we will be seeing you in a wood somewhere very soon!

Aurora Field Archery Club is registered with the National Field Archery Society (NFAS) and we hold regular field archery competitions in our 60 acres of woodland near Chelmsford Essex. We will be announcing the date of our next shoot soon, so keep an eye on the NFAS shoot dates calendar and announcement board. Paul, Martin, Sue, Steve, and Ian

Well, just got back after a wonderful second day at the Afan Nedd Dragon shoot - huge thanks and well done to the organisers for making it so and especially to Sandra Anderson for the fabulous hand-made medals - they really are a very special treat πŸ™πŸ™Œ

Thanks too to Ceri, Isla and Freya for being such wonderful shooting buddies for the day πŸ™πŸ™ and to Freya for inventing the β€œfloppy” high five every time she got a 20 βœ‹πŸ€£ going to steal with pride on that one β˜οΈπŸ˜„

Will definitely be returning next year hopefully with a few more Auroreans in tow… well it can’t be just me in the obligatory group photo can it πŸ˜†

Fantastic first day at Afan Nedd for their weekend Dragon shoot made all the better by the wonderful company of Jane, Trevor and Ceri.

Really cleverly set and tricky course with a great variety of distances and terrain… involving lots of uphill shots…. very unusual where we normally shoot and definitely not a freestyler’s best friend… godsdamned clicker πŸ˜†πŸ˜¬

Thank you to all of the home team, great job πŸ™ looking forward to round 2 tomorrow πŸ™Œ

Well thats a wrap on another weekends shooting, two very hot and sweaty days in sunny Essex at Excalibur Archers.

A plethora of the Aurora faithful made the trip as always.

If you are looking for a great course and shoot to attend, this is definitely one to consider πŸ’―.

Saturday was a challenge shoot 2 arrows at each target with 50 targets to play with 5 for a wound and 10 for a kill, luckily this made the maths easy to work out so the shoes and socks could stay on πŸ˜‚, and also with the infamous hunting trail at target 5 meant some running was needed to complete it, as only 1 min was allowed to shoot all 6 shots.

Sunday was the usual big game shoot we all know and love on another testing and tricky course and of course it wouldn’t be right without the usual s**t and Aurora banter to help us along the way.

Some shiny tin was obtained as well along the way with medals won in the Bowhunter, Barebow, AFB and freestyle classes. Aurora in the house 😎😎.

Thanks as always goes to Mel for keeping us fed and watered both days ⭐️ and as always we can’t forget Stan for setting a tricky, technical, brilliant sod of a course both days πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏻

Hopefully see you all there again in October for some more arrow flinging shenanigans, 😎🏹πŸ’ͺ🏻

Fantastic time at Bridgewoods for their half and half Big Game / Woodsman shoot today πŸ™ŒπŸ‘ Some very cleverly laid targets perfect for the format and terrain bringing out some excellent scores across all classes, mind you, figuring out what constitutes a good woodsman score is still a work in progress πŸ˜πŸ€” although seeing targets transform into arrow porcupines is always a delight 😝😝

Very well done and thank you to the course layers, catering, marshals and admin - fabulous job, hugely appreciated πŸ™πŸ‘

Half a dozen Auroreans descended on Kent and a had a fun-filled and fruitful medal day with Nikki securing Gold πŸ₯‡ in HT, Garry Silver πŸ₯ˆ in Freestyle and Martin Gold πŸ₯‡ in Freestyle. Well done everyone. Special thanks to John Foster and Andy Doyle for chaperoning us through the day 🀣🀣

Looking forward to the next one πŸ˜†πŸ™Œ

What a wonderful way to spend a Thursday - bunking off work, beautiful woodland shooting arrows as guests of HNA for the day πŸ˜ŠπŸ™Œ

Nine Auroreans made the trip down the road to our nearest neighbours and had a blast 🀩

Thank you to all of the home team for putting on these midweek events - we really appreciate it πŸ™ oh and thank you to Dave for putting up with Steve and yours truly for the day… πŸ˜†

Bit late in the day posting (only just recovered πŸ˜†) but from all of us Auroreans who attended the Welsh 3D Champs at the weekend, we say a huge well done and thank you to everyone at Pendragon and Blaidd for laying on yet another epic challenge πŸ™ŒπŸ™

Both courses were spectacular and a true test of skill, stamina, strength and sense of humour πŸ˜†

Catering, Admin and marshalling were equally awesome - the complete package one could say πŸ™ŒπŸ™

Congratulations to all medal winners - you earned those, not forgetting our very own Aurora medalists - πŸ₯‡ gold for Owen Bardon in Cub Barebow and πŸ₯ˆ silver for Kieran (Big G) Grundon in Bowhunter - well done chaps - thoroughly well deserved πŸ€©πŸ™Œ

Looking forward to next year already (assuming we’re quick enough off the draw to get booked in πŸ˜†πŸ˜†).

Thanks again - you spoil us πŸ₯Ή

Well thats a wrap on the final day of the liberty blow up costume summer shoot.

Another hot and sweaty day, but that was overshadowed by the fantastic course set by the Liberty Archers U.K. team…. I mean they even managed to shrink a polar bear πŸ‘€πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚

4 aurorians made the trip to sunny Suffolk and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house πŸ˜‚β€¦ i mean with β€˜trigger’ aka Ken and his 1 bow since shooting that has has 3 pairs of new limbs and 2 risers πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.. still chuckling about that now. And obviously the endless cheeky comments on shots πŸ˜‚

A tidy haul of tin was obtained in the process aswell with…

Martin β€˜long rod’ joy taking bronze in freestyle

Ken β€˜trigger’ Sparham taking gold in Barebow

Kieran β€˜Big G’ Grundon taking gold in the bowhunter devision.

Will be back for the turkey shoot πŸ¦ƒ in November… see you all there for some more arrow flinging shenanigans πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸΉ

Well thats day one of the Liberty Archers U.K. 2 day summer shoot done and dusted

What can i say it was as expected a hot an sweaty one and as always a well laid and tricky course set by team Liberty… (The eagle owl comes to mind πŸ‘€) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

2 of the Aurora faithful made the trip with another 2 to join the fun and games tomorrow πŸ’ͺ🏻.

Was a nice steady start to the weekend lets hope we can all build on the momentum tomorrow 🏹πŸ’ͺ🏻
