What an afternoon! 🥹

The best time with a fantastic bunch of women. A couple of them do the HSS on demand classes, so they have never had any engagement with other members of HSS, so to have them here and getting to know other members – hearing them talk about the difference between attending the live classes and doing them on demand – bonding over how HSS classes make them feel… it was pretty epic.

There were women in the room that have been members of HSS, formerly known as the F10, for 6 years, women that have been personal training clients for coming up to a decade and women that literally signed up to HSS a week ago. 😍😍

Congrats to all of the award winners! So thoroughly well-deserved. Now you know the app gives me stats! Hahaha! 😈 There are 5 more of you that weren’t there but I’ll save that for another post. ❤️

Don’t be put off by the fact we are sat in a massive circle. Even we joked about that 🙈 – I promise there were no icebreakers and it wasn’t a group therapy session. 😂 I did make everyone move around though, so they had the chance to make a new friends. I think it was welcomed. 😍

Until Winter (I will get that date out early for planning), keep going, team! Very proud coach over here! ❤️

It’s only in the last 5 years that I’ve really started to build some size in my upper body and glutes. You only need to look back at my (physique) competition pics (which I’ve shared) to see that I had a tiny upper body and twiglet arms.

I attribute these “gains” down to 3 main things:

1️⃣ CONSISTENCY
- For the last 6 years (since the start of the pandemic), I have taught my online strength & fitness classes. For the last 2 years, those classes have been every weekday at 6:30am.

➡️ 2 x 30 mins total body strength sessions
➡️ 1 x 30 mins lower body strength session
➡️ 1 x 20 mins upper body & core session
➡️ 1 x 20 mins flexibility & mobility session

I don’t do any other gym training. You can achieve results from anywhere – you just need to be consistent. No over training required.

I do reformer sporadically, but haven’t been in about 6 weeks. Not even sure that counts as sporadically. 🙈

2️⃣ TECHNIQUE / FORM
Don’t get bogged down by influencers saying things like “here’s how I got this back” and then proceeding to show you five different workouts/machines, without telling you how to execute them perfectly. You don’t need to do 5 different variations in one session either. Nail your form. If you don’t want to join HSS, get yourself a PT – even if only for a month or two. That is where the change will happen.

3️⃣ FUEL
I know you’re probably sick of hearing it but get your protein in! Protein provides the amino acids your body uses to repair and build new muscle tissue after training, making it essential for muscle growth. I have women in the Confidence Comeback telling me that they are getting PBs in the gym, one of them just came 3rd in a lifting competition 🥹 - they are putting it down to the increased protein in their diet. Also, if you want to see body composition changes - fuel and training go hand in hand.

I am opening the books for the 7 week Summer Intake for the Confidence Comeback. Week 1 is set up, weeks 2 to 7 are action! 💪🏼

I’m talking to you. 💚

Half term can stir up so many different emotions. It’s a funny one – even in this glorious weather that we are having.

Happiness, because you’re having the best time with the people that matter.

Anxiety, because you don’t want it to come to an end.

If you can, try to stick to at least 70% of your normal routine – don’t stray too far from the norm because that is what makes it so hard to go back.

You are doing the best that you can. Even when you become a bit shouty. You are human. 💚

This was too well said not to feature on my feed. “You can buy skinny but you earn strong.”

My dear and longest friend shared this with me. Cara and I went to boarding school together for 10 years. We lived together for a year in our early 20s. We were both already slim but we recall doing Atkins together. I remember us both eating sardines out of a tin - which there’s nothing wrong with - but there is when you’re doing it for the wrong reasons.

30 years later & we are both focused on being our strongest selves - working on our future old lady bodies.

Strength over shrinking always. 💪🏼💚
