This Sunday the league would like all clubs, supporters and officials involved to observe a minute applause to honour David Ashcroft who passed unexpectedly earlier this week, he was just 46.

“Wav” played for Straw Hat Athletic as their goalkeeper and has been involved with the club for majority of their history with the Sunday League.

The Chester & District Sunday League are extremely saddened to hear the tragic news of David “Wav” Ashcroft.
A legend of the local game in Ellesmere Port and a hugely popular man who will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Our sincere condolences go to David’s family, friends, team mates and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him 10 hours ago.

In honour of Wav, all games this coming weekend will observe a minutes applause before kick off.
